landman Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) Since doing the 67 Shelby OOB, I thought why not another one. I pulled this one out of the pile. I'll do it like this one. I found a nice shade of blue which will do nicely. Edited November 30, 2020 by landman
cobraman Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 One of my favorites. Good luck with your build.
wayne swayze Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Love it Pat! Love the blue also....I'll be watching this build!
landman Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) The paint turned out OK. Won't need clear if it stays like this. This is about 12 hours old. Edited November 30, 2020 by landman
Jaguar man 21 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Very nice so far!! This is a kit I'm on the fence about buying I'll be watching
MrObsessive Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Pat, you've picked one gorgeous Ferrari to build! This is one of my favorite ones and Italeri's version IMO is the best one out there shape wise. I built one years ago, and while there were some small tweaks I made to the shape, they capture the 250's classic lines very well. Great color too------I'm definitely following this one!
BVC500 Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Looking good, though one suggestion: I would have glued the front and rear valences on and filled and sanded the joint lines before priming and painting.

I never thought to check but don't they go on after? If not, then you are right, I should have.
MrObsessive Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Pat, I remember when I built mine, I put the front fascia on ahead of time. Mostly because one of the "tweaks" I made to the body, was doing a correction to the grille area as I was replicating Stirling Moss's '61 car. I can't remember if it was troublesome putting it on first.......something tells me not terribly so, but then that was nearly 20 years ago!
Brizio Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Looking good. Looking forward to see more progress!

I went back & looked at the instructions after reading Bernard's post. Sure enough all the body parts are assembled BEFORE it goes on the chassis. My bad. I have put them on, it won't need much filler butt, there is always a but...I may not have enough paint left.
landman Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) Attached the front and rear fascias. those are very thin seams needing very little filler. I may have enough paint. Painted the "leather". Added the dials to the dashboard. Started wiring the engine. Edited November 30, 2020 by landman
Dann Tier Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Looking KILLER!!!!! makes me wanna start mine!......cant wait to see more!!
Foxer Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 That's a really nice paint ... the metallic looks good to scale.
gtx6970 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) Excellent color combination. Ive always had a secret admiration for the early 60s Ferrari cars. . I might get the inclination one day to actually build one for my shelf,,,someday. Edited September 8, 2017 by gtx6970
landman Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 That's a really nice paint ... the metallic looks good to scale. It is ModelMaster metallic blue. I really like it. Airbrushed right out of the jar.
Bernard Kron Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I'm currently building the infamous ESCI-AMT-ERTL version, warts and all, doing what I can to overcome them. I'm fascinated by the differences with this kit and really enjoying the nice work you're doing. I was surprised to see you paint the fascias before gluing them to the rest of the body. What was your, thinking be in taking this approach? So far the build looks great. Should be one sweet Berlinetta Passo Corto indeed.

I was assuming they went on after the body was on the chassis. It is almost embarrassing. Teach me to assume and not read ahead.
landman Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Pecking away at the interior. Completed the wiring of the engine. Added throttle lever shaft and fuel line. Edited November 30, 2020 by landman
landman Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) Engine is done. Interior almost there. Forgot the handbrake but I think I can get it in there with tweezers. Doing things backward. Edited November 30, 2020 by landman
