Can-Con Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 Foiled up the trim and added some detail to the cowl.
gtx6970 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Love the color. I have a rebuilder 67 convertible I want to get to here soon,,,might get the thing on the bench for a this winter rebuild
Can-Con Posted April 15, 2018 Author Posted April 15, 2018 Finished up the interior today. Same paint as the body but without the pearl and dullcoated. Just some flocking on the floor, foil on the dash and basic detail painting with a bit of faux finish painting for the burl wood.
Can-Con Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 Just bringing this back up so I'll be able to find it easily. My new model area is almost ready and I want to get back on this car this weekend, or maybe sooner.
Can-Con Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Well, I'm kinda bummed out. Got my new work area all ready for a few hours of quality time with the Bonneville I see that I'm missing the driver's side tail light lens. I could have sworn it was firmly attached into it's opening in the bumper like the other one but?? Got this set from Modelhaus so getting another one from there is out. I'd ask if anyone on the board has a spare one but that seems like a very long shot. Guess I'm gonna have to keep an eye on the bay for someone parting one out. So until I find a replacement, I guess it's back in the box it goes.

It's funny how things work out sometimes. When I bought my '67 Bonneville builder, it was missing one bucket seat and had a broken passenger side tail light lens. I got in under the wire with Modelhaus and ordered a set of seats and a set of tail lights, so now I have one lonely driver's side tail light lens and a bucket seat left after my build. If you like, you can PM me and we can arrange for the lens to be shipped to you. Never shipped to Canada before, so you'll have to give me the low down. Steve Thanks Steven, you're a lifesaver, or at least a project saver. edit, just tried PMing you, looks like your basket might be full, it wouldn't go. Said you can't receive messages. , so, anyway, I'm sure something that small could just be taped to a piece of sprue or something else hard so it doesn't get snapped in two and sent in a small bubble envelope. When I send something to the states I just have to fill out a small form asking what's in the package and what it's worth, just takes a minute. IIRC, it's about the same coming back this way. Just let me know what you need in return. Edited January 21, 2019 by Can-Con

I emptied them out, (hope there was nothing there that I needed) so now you can PM me and get me your address. Steve
Can-Con Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 This is basically where it stalled out in April when the flood hit. I moved it up on a high shelf to be safe and lifted the table I was working on by putting a 5 gal. pail under each leg. Everything was high and dry, and safe, I thought. Tail light lens must have fallen out when I put the body on the high shelf. Anyway, Thanks to Steven G. I can try to finish it up. Started working on the engine tonight. Cut the heads off and reattached them straighter. Dug out all the parts I'll need to finish up the engine. First time I put glue to plastic in about 9 months. I see the green counter top won't be much good for taking pictures on. LOL

Already painted and well along? You sound like a great candidate for the BRING OUT YOUR DEAD Completion Build, Round 2, now forming up. Completion deadline will be March 31, which should give you plenty of time to GITTER DONE! Come on in!
Can-Con Posted February 4, 2019 Author Posted February 4, 2019 Up on wheels to check stance. I think I'll raise the rear about the width of the metal axle. Also have the engine mostly assembled and painted.
Daddy Mack Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) But that 3-spoke steering wheel is the optional Sports Steering Wheel which had an imitation wood rim and brushed stainless steel spokes on the driver's side with a chromed center horn cap with predominantly glossy gray center cap Ah, 1967 Pontiac firewalls are semi-gloss black, not body color. Modlbldr Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Looking amazing! I love what you have done with this and the color is beautiful! Later-

Well, he's calling it "mild custom" which lets him off the hook.

Koellefornia Kid Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Love the paint job! That color suits the poncho very well!

If you didn't like those little details, you're really not gonna like my wheels and tires. You see, this is not a "replica stock " build. I rarely do replica stock builds because I do not particularly care for posts that just pick apart my work. I get enough of that from my boss when I'm actually at work I don't need it when I go home too. When you do your '67 Bonneville you can do those details to it if you wish. But thanks for your comments. Edited February 4, 2019 by Can-Con

I was hoping that it made it to you unscathed. Looking forward to seeing it finished. By the way, I agree with Steve and Snake. If it’s custom, there are no rules. This is part of the reason why factory stock is not always as easy as some people like to make it out to be. It can take a lot of research to get it right. Customs have no such rules. Anything goes. NM. I already know the answer. Just because it’s a 3 spoke wheel doesn’t mean it is automatically the sport wheel. The half color, half transparent wheel was also a 3 spoke. Regardless, a custom is a custom. Just because you wouldn’t paint a wooden wheel doesn’t mean that someone else wouldn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a custom car that didn’t have a dozen things done to it that I wouldn’t do. It’s all personal taste. Steve Edited February 5, 2019 by StevenGuthmiller
