Bucky Posted July 3, 2019 Author Posted July 3, 2019 I worked on the Cougar dashboard to get it to fit the Mustang interior tub: I'm fiddling with the front seats and console, now. Pics when I get a bit of progress.
Wm David Green Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 This is all great stuff and looking forward to the result. I prefer the 1969 Mercury Cougar to all of the stock 60's Mustangs. Of the Ford Mustangs, I like the 1971 to '73 models.
Bucky Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Thanks, Mr. Green! I'm plodding along with it. LOL I share your opinion about the '71-'73 Mustang, especially the fastback(Sportsroof). In the Cougars, my favorite is the '67-'68 body style. I used the engine block, trans, and heads for this build: The induction setup came from the Cougar kit. The distributor is from Kris Morgan at MAD. Test fit in the engine bay:
rustybill1960 Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Keith How is the build doing? Anything new? Really liked the body work, may have to try a conversion Thank You for sharing Later Russ
Bucky Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Haven't done much in the last few days. Trying to clear the bench of two other projects that are closer to the finish line. Hopefully, I can get back to the Puma later next week. I appreciate your interest in this project.

This old gluebomb had seen its better days, tho, and I thought it was time to recycle!! LOL I also come across gluebombed versions of desirable cars. Recycling is good!
Everfree Customs Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Thanks! And you're doing an excellent job on the Puma. I can't wait to see it done.
Tom Geiger Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Very cool project. The marriage is so obvious you know Ford had at least a design study on this back in the day. When you are finished, you could display it with some pseudo factory information on this rare one off car!
Bucky Posted April 25, 2020 Author Posted April 25, 2020 I probably should catch up with the work on this one. These are the seats and console from the '68 Mustang kit. I added a small bit to the console so it would match up with the dash: Then, I decided to whack the seats away from the console: Console is coming along: A little tweaking, here and there, and it should be okay.
James2 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Looks really good, This is the post that inspired me to build this.
Scott8950 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 This will be nice when its finished. Nice job on the roof it looks great
Sam I Am Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 WoW ! I have been wanting to do this to the 1:1 for years. I owned a couple nice drivers over the years and the last one I had I wanted to do this. A friend of mine at the time was getting pretty good with Photoshop and he asked me to send him a picture of driver side rear. This is what he did with it.
Bucky Posted April 25, 2020 Author Posted April 25, 2020 Thanks, fellas! James2, that Nova looks great! Glad my messing around got you motivated! The Photoshop pic in that last post makes it look like a natural! Mercury should have offered them like that, IMHO!

Yes, I have always thought that Mercury missed the boat on this. What's nice is that you can purchase a kit to turn your hardtop Mustang into a fastback.....and use it on a Cougar. ?

Bucky Posted April 26, 2020 Author Posted April 26, 2020 I added some half round strip to the grille: This pic shows the hose connection for a Cougar: This is the radiator I took off this Cougar when I got it: Not too hard to move it: I filled in the openings in the firewall where the molded in hood "hinges" would have been inserted: More to come..........
