Time for some safety wires.  The Delage has these wires running along the pan sections - they secure the bolts that attach the pan sections to the chassis.  Chose some bolts that included a cast washer - but the wire - .005 - has to be wound and twisted - first around some .015 rod - these are then replaced by the bolts when the wire is installed - its a little over scale- but not much …

Don’t try this at home kids ..

no, actually do try this at home - but only a section at a time - it will drive you batty - but it looks cool …

takes some practice - and an optivisor - the parts grabber tool in the previous photo is used to grab and hold the ends of the wire to twist them from bolt to bolt …

Turning my attention back to the trans case - which was made from Evergreen stock pre-pandemic - the black undercoat is Alclad - the bolts are from RB MOTION - Ohio - and Master Club - Er - Russia - they produced some really neat castle nuts just a few years ago - but i don’t expect re-stocks any time soon  …. …

Yup, Pico Elgin is a wizard. He's a member of the ACME club (me too sometimes).

He was one of the early-adopters of 3D printing tech for model cars, built a couple of his own printers years ago, and does outstanding work.

I'll be following your work here with much interest.   :D

Spent the morning yesterday with Mr. Elgin - back to Pg 1 -KK

This is a really fascinating build. Nice to see very old classic racing cars being modelled to this sort of standard.

Incidentally, who is Peco Elgin who I see is mentioned. Does he produce kits in resin / white metal? How does one get in touch with him?   A mention was made about a Duesenberg model he has made. Any pics on this forum?

Ive been pondering the finish of the radiator - ive decided to add a coat of Alclad Bl and shine it up - the restored car that I’m referencing is a trailer queen - Jay Leno learing at it at Pebble Beach is about the roughest handling that this car will get :   much tOo valuable to compete - and many parts - including the radiator - are recreations - so I’m going to spiff up the radiator …

Thanks for your reply Pico.  I came across your T41 Bugatti thread yesterday.

Andrew, I liked your tongue in cheek  humorous reply about you being a medium or  Ime stopping random folks in Atlanta! Incidentally, is your Delage in 1/24th scale?

I was contemplating my next scratch build and was looking on the web for ERA racing cars to look out the famous car 'Romulus'. Came across a Delage ERA that has beautiful lines. It is in the Mullin Auto Museum on your side of the pond. Might go for that one instead to model. Let's see!  Thought you might be interested at taking a peek at it.
