My Original 1960 Release of the Double T had this Card in it . I've since acquired another . The Double Dragster had a Pocket Sized NHRA Rule Book in it . This I lack due to loss . The '68 Mustang Cobra first release (1968) had a little 33 1/3  Record of Carrol Shelby running a Cobra through the Course at (?) Seibring .. That l also have lost through time ..  The Model B and V/8 Coupe Cards my friends had in the day .  Thanx ..

I remember the Mustang Cobra record, a friend had one when the kit first came out.

I didn't know about the NHRA rule book in the DD kits. Another interesting fact about the early AMT kits.

Some what off topic of the cards but I scanned these instruction sheets for the information of those who might not have seen them.  The kits which these came from are missing from the  illustrations as they are for "other kits available"

Venturing further OT I thought this pamphlet was very interesting especially the formulas.  I do not know which kit this came with, sorry.

I was going to guess AMT's Double Dragster, but that seems to have included some different pamphlets/sheets. Hopefully someone here knows for sure so I can find and buy one. :D

Maybe an extra from the '61 Buick wagon kit? Note they were both printed two-color red and black:

I think you are onto something Chris.  In this snippet of my models in 1961 the Buick wagon is behind the timing tower, the trailer is between the Corvettes in the back, and the Chrysler engine with the 6 carbs is sitting in the back of the Ford F100 with push bar.  Bingo!

I can't tell you how many of those kits I built, most of them and certain ones several times. The 32 five window was my first in the series and several of the 39-40 Ford sedans, several 40 Ford coupes.. But I built the T and 32 roadsters too, in fact entered a contest with the full fendered roadster with Chrysler engine.. It didn't place because it was brush painted, that was the last body that ever got brush painted lol.  The next contest I entered a semi custom 49 Ford ( not from the trophy series) with sprayed body and upholstered interior and got a third place with that. As I recall all the old Ford kits were molded in black initially and the contemporaries of the time like the 58 t bird, the 60's buicks etc in white. Long time ago now though so who knows ! But ya I remember the series for sure. I preferred hard tops to convertibles though so not so many of the convertibles got done by me.

Never built the boat and I don't recall that trailer at all, though I must have seen it.

The artwork for this one at least still exists.. I have one that is exactly like this out of a recent issue of the Model T.. Do not ask which one as I pulled it out & diplayed it on my shelf..

I know it's meaningless , but isn't the last example of computing a cars speed on page 7 wrong ? 1/4 of 3600 is 900 not 1800 as stated .

This is a really cool thread. I learned stuff I didn’t know since my own modeling began around 1969. I’d seen some of those cards at shows, mixed in with old instruction sheets. If I see them again I’ll grab them!

Here's a real Chrysler Fire Power hemi "as installed."  It's in a 1952 Imperial with 29,000 original miles, spotted recently at a local car show.

These are the five I'm aware of:

cards.jpg

Are these are the six kits which included the cards?:

  • AMT 1925 Model 'T' Ford
  • AMT 1932 Ford Roadster -- Assembly & Disassembly Kit
  • AMT 1932 Ford Sport Roadster -- Assembly & Disassembly Kit
  • AMT 1932 Ford V-8 Coupe -- Assembly & Disassembly Kit
  • AMT 1939-40 Ford Tudor Sedan -- Assembly & Disassembly Kit
  • AMT 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe -- Assembly & Disassembly  Kit

Looking at the instruction sheets for all six...:

...all are Trophy Series kits which feature the original style(?) hand-drawn 'amt' logo (by Al Borst?), and labelled as Assembly & Disassembly Kits (save for the 1925 Model 'T'), a something which seems to have ended with these six original(?) releases.

On page one, Tom Woodruff mentioned the original release dates for three of these kits:

"I have a "Directory of model car kit" book published by Bill Coulter and Bob Shelton that is updated every year. It lists every known kit, its year, kit number, etc. The very first release of the '32 Ford Sport Roadster Trophy Series 3-in-1 kit # 132 was in 1959.The '32 Five Window Coupe # 232 was in 1960. The first release of the 1925 Ford was in the double kit # 200-125 and that was also in 1960."

Is there anything distinct on the outside of the boxes of these original issue kits which might clearly indicate if they contain the cards or not? Maybe there was a running change to the boxes (and instruction sheets?) at some point?

Did the cards show up in the green striped boxes that were "dealer issues"? I've not had those issues, but the cards seem primarily early Ford. I've not seen a 39-40 in a dealer box, I didn't ever see any pics after Googlage. Great info, now I need that info card from the dual dragster kit.
