Casey Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 I acquired a few more wheels in a lot, so if anyone knows for sure which kit(s) these are from, let us know, please. #1 -- .715" diameter, have 65 cast into the backside of the disc area: #2 -- .617" diameter. I think these are from early AMT '32 (and maybe '40, Assembly and Disassembly style kits?) Ford kits, based upon the snap-like interference fit on the black plastic wheels they were paired up with: #3 -- MPC Gapp & Roush Pro Stock Pinto Flys?: #4 -- No idea if these are a matching set or not, but both have Monogram like yellow plastic underneath the chrome plating. The wheel half with the open hub bore has three indexing slots, aligning with three of the spokes, and the other wheel half has one indexing pin, aligning with one spoke...meaning if you assemble both halves, the spokes all line up, instead of being 30 degrees apart: #5 -- Oddball spoked wheels/wheel covers. Small one measures .570" (so about 13" in 1/25...AMT '60s compacts?), large one measures .747" in diameter:
Phirewriter Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 #4 appears to be the front wheel from the Monogram Sweet Tee. #5 the larger spoked wheel I believe is from the Munster's Dragula
ChrisBcritter Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 #1 I'd swear is Lindberg - one of their hot rod kits; the channeled '32 pickup?
Mark Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 #3 are definitely from the G&R Pinto. That's the only kit they were ever in. #4 might be the fronts from the Monogram Tom Daniel Dragon Wagon (reissued as the Circus Wagon). #5 (the small one) is from one of several AMT '61 or '62 compact car kits.
Casey Posted January 26, 2021 Author Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) I have a few more wheels I could use some help to positively identify: Top row: White four-slot from AMT '57 Chevy Bel Air American Racing "Gambler" wheel from...?? MPC kit, maybe? American Racing "Gambler" wheel from 1/24 Monogram '39 Chevy Coupe (and probably others) Second row: Cragar ????? wheels from AMT '66 Chevy Nova Pro Street Third row: Centerline 928 style wheels but with lug nut and lug nut bore hole detail. I think someone may have once mentioned these are from an '80s MPC Corvette or Firebird kit? First wheel is very deep, second and third closer to a 7" deep wheel, and the fourth, black wheel has been sanded thinner, but appears to be the same as the second and third wheels. Fourth row: Centerline ?? or Cragar Super Trick wheels from MPC(?) '74 Barracuda "Pro Street" kit(?). I had this kit long ago and the rear wheels were very deep, but these don't seem quite as orange as I remember, and are more orange-red. #3 and #4 in row four are very similar to #1 and #2, but the bolt circle is a tiny bit larger, there is a step at the top of the center cap, and the bulge on the face is slightly less pronounced. Wheels #5 and #6 are very similar, but different from #1-#4, having acorn style lug nuts with no protruding lug stud. I think these are all 1/25 scale, and likely MPC. Rows 1 and 2 below: *edit* Good info and some answers here: Edited January 26, 2021 by Casey

Mark Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 The '57 Chevy wheels have squared-off slots, aren't as deep as the ones pictured, and have no lug nut detail.

Yes, that should have been very obvious to me, hence the facepalm. That was the first and only similar four-slot wheel which came to mind, but this one is actually quite nice. The backside did not have a molded in stub for a metal axle, but I did sand down the backside a bit already, so not much help to post a pic of the backside. Guess I have more research to do...
Mark Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 '57 Chevy wheel. The other one is probably from an AMT funny car, or possibly a show rod.
mk11 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) It looks like the wheels supplied in the Tuff Truk (76Ford F350), the '70s GMC stepside and the re-issued model T... among others probably. Don't believe they have a real 1:1 counterpart; just a similarity to the small window drag wheels. ... not a fan Edited January 27, 2021 by mk11
Can-Con Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) The big and little 8 hole wheels with the exposed lugs is from the AMT late '80s/early '90s Chevy pickups. The red wheels could be from an MPC '82 Z-28. It has those and was molded in that red. I still have one unopened. Edited January 27, 2021 by Can-Con
Casey Posted January 27, 2021 Author Posted January 27, 2021 Thanks, all. I'll see if I can nail down which kit that 4-slot wheel is from. The Crazy Horse Pinto F/C and Tuff Truk both seems like good possibilities.
Casey Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 I received a few additional wheels I could use some help identifying, please. Group #1: Lower left (one facing up, one down) 14" deep Torq-Thrust style with open hub bore, thin back bevel on the lip area. Back half possibly above these two? On right, unknown five-lug six spoke, backside is flat with no stud/mounting boss: Set #2...Six-spoke, six-lug, molded in green, from...AMT Indy Car or 1/24 Road Racers (Hussein, etc.)? Don't think these are from the Opel GT:
Mark Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 The six-spoke wheel with the flat backside is from the MPC Dodge Sportsman van kits (passenger version). There were two: an undated issue from mid-'71, and a '72 annual. That is a rear wheel for the dual engine wheelstander version. Two narrower wheels were included for the front.
Casey Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 Thanks, JC. Here they are in the kit: And the source of the six-spoke wheels Mark mentioned, shown on the vruck below:
Can-Con Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Quick question, what Eagle kit was molded in green? I've only seen white ones. I'm not saying it didn't happen, just I've never seen one.

More sleuthing to do. ☺️ The two wheels I have do match the color of this MPC Monza promo very closely: They also appear to match the green color AMT used on their early '80s 289 Cobra and others. This might be getting too deep, but the wheel I have, on the left, appears to have the gate remains at the 11:30 and 6:30 positions (or 8:30 and 3:30, if rotated 90* counter clockwise), while the wheels on the Olsonite Eagle above are closer to true 9:00 and 3:00 (or 4:00 and 7:00 in the case of that loner). Mark Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 The big mounting boss on the back of the wheel would point to it being from one of the Zinger kits. The kit itself may not have been molded in green, but weren't the parts in those kits molded in different colors (body in one color, black plastic tires)? Maybe the plated parts for several kits were molded in one bunch, in whatever color plastic they had too much of at the time.
