I joined this forum a while back and have been blown away by the quality of your builds.  I have built a few models years ago and attempted to detail them and make nice, etc, but not this one, It is supposed to be how my 1/1 is- not a rat rod but not pristine- More like a kid would make out of a 20 year old farm truck. I am building a 1/1 56 F100 with a 300 6 in it. While at a swap meet I found a "Hot Rod" series 56 model. It was opened but appeared complete. Come to find out it was missing one inner wheel hub. Anyway I wanted to find a 300 6 engine for it but it would be too costly so I built it with the Y block. It was molded in dark blue. I spray painted the chassis in satin black after it was assembled. Then sprayed the body in a satin green, the doors and top in satin black, then fogged over the whole thing in blobs of brown to try to simulate rust (patina) like the real one. Use the extra red wheels I had from a Little Red Wagon model. I also painted a F100 hot wheels I found. Just for fun...

You're off to a great start on the Model as well as your 1:1 pick-up. I also have a personal attachment to the '56 Ford F-100 having owned two different trucks at different times. The nice thing about your 1:1 is that with even  with basic mechanical skills you can do almost anything your self even on a tight budget. There're far more after market support now than when I built mine, so I wish you luck on that. You might even think about finding another '56 Ford F-100 kit and you can tryout some 1:1 ideas for the future.

Looks great!  What brand of kit is that?

Next on my list is a '56 Ford pickup to duplicate the one I owned in 1975.  I've got an NOS Revell "Big Ten-Ford California Pickup" kit, but I'm not sure it will have what I need.

Yeah.... I have to give you credit just for gettin it built that's a tough kit to build alone... I've started a few and never got any done. And you got it to look like the real one too. Nice job.

Thanks guys, I believe it was a Revell kit, It was in the Hot Rod series that was made in 1983 or so. I thought it was hard to build with lots of small parts, but it was fun. The 1/1 is coming along.... slowly. But that's ok I'm retired..
