NOBLNG Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I started painting this with Spaz Stix red and although I really liked the color, it was getting so thick that I was losing detail. So into the superclean it went! My second attempt was using Testors Aztec red pearl with Aztec clear topcoat.

espo Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I have to agree with everyone else on the color choice. The chrome trim looks perfect also. Did you use a Pin for the window moldings ?

I scribed all the mouldings with the back of an exacto blade just like the panel lines, and hand painted them. I realize now that all I would need for a paint dividing line is a very thin score. Modlbldr Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Looking beautiful. Great color choice. I believe that what espo is referring to is a Molotow Chrome Pen. Later-
NOBLNG Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 No, I don't have one of them. This was done with a Craftsmart paint pen dabbed into a bottle cap and I dip my paintbrush into that. It goes on real nice. I have not tried the BMF that I bought yet, but I think painting the trim would be far faster than foiling it . Is it as real? I don't know... I will try the BMF on the next one.

I see you have already answered the question to others. The method you used on the chrome trim is the tried and true but looks more like a satin finish compared to the Foil and Motolow pen that seems to be the norm now. You did an excellent job and the light scoring with a blade is how I learned that technique.
