HomerS Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) There's plenty of blame to go around on this...... Edited March 22, 2018 by HomerS Pic posted twice
High octane Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 That's bad news as I've known what it's like for a person to lose their job many times.
Joe Handley Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Sucks to see them go, worked at the store that was in St. Charles, IL back in the 90's.
Snake45 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Last time I was in ours, a few months ago, they had some M2 1/24 diecasts but no models at all. No model paints or accessories either, of course. Back in the '80s they were the go-to joint in my town for models. They had just about everything in current release. Everything domestic, anyway.

That changed on the early 00's, right before they went from the old isle layout to the current "world" setup.

The people that work hard at doing the day to day things that keep a business going get nothing. The people responsible for putting the business in the ditch get a bonus. I just don't understand this. Maybe we should given the company a bigger tax break.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 I'd like to know how you give a bonus to those who tanked the company. They certainly weren't doing a very good job of running the company. I'm sure that vendors are also not harpy that bonus are being paid means that they are getting less for goods supplied to the stores.

It's more than just their decisions that killed it, not quite like Hostess where it was likely straight up incompetence mislabeled as excessive costs and lack of sales.

You are so right.I was an Asst. Mgr.for 6 years in the mid to late 90's.I enjoyed restocking the model aisle. We sold a lot of models and paint, especially for Christmas season. We would sell out of kits of all kinds and have to put large bulk items on the shelves. We are talking about a 40' aisle.

Seems like things started going downhill at my store after it went through that remodel in '00. Just didn't seem to be as easy to stock the shelves, we lost 2/3 of our store room (and we were already a little store), and we didn't seem to have the selection afterwards as well.
OldTrucker Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Our store here that has been long gone stopped stocking models in the mid 90's and that was the last they saw of me! They always had a great selection too and there was always someone shopping it!
Mike 1017 Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I just read an article about people anticipating big discounts. As of today they are only offering 10% discount. I think that you have to wait until there is a liquidation sale

Maindrian Pace Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 I haven't been to a TRU in years. Seems a very common claim.
