426 pack Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) The VOLKSWAGEN TRACKRAT It is a VW Bug frame with a turboed Acura I4 engine, 90s mustang lower A arms front and rear and a homemade roll cage. Comments welcom. Edited March 26, 2018 by 426 pack
426 pack Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 I got some more work done on it in the past couple of days. I built a fuel tank and added some more parts to the roll cage.

rsxse240 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Very cool! I've been wanting to build something like this in 1:1 but $$$ lol! I'll be watching this!
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Way cool. Nice proportions for a little doorstop too. Something like this could be built CHEAP in 1:1 with a little DOM tubing and some junkyard bits. For example, I bought a salvage (running and driving) gen-one MR2 for $400 a while back that has all the mechanical parts anyone would need (except for a set of coilovers). Another few hundred bucks worth of steel, some trick wheels and tires, and a pair of lightweight f'glass seats, you're down the road. Hardest part is figuring out where to put the radiator.
Spex84 Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Way cool! This thing would be an absolute blast to drive; it's an overgrown go-kart. I like the transverse Audi mill...makes me wonder if people have swapped those into VWs in 1:1.
Rider Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Some really good progress, this is really looking cool.
426 pack Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Thanks guys unfortunately this one is currently sitting on the shelf of incomplete project due to the fact that I ran out of the styrene rod that I was using. I did place an order with my local hobby shop so hopefully I can get it soon and start working on it again.
