You NEED this book!

Got my copy of Tim Boyd's new book in the mail today, and it is amazing. 176 pages of photos and all kinds of information about muscle car kits from all the manufacturers. Something like 400 photos! I've just had a chance to breeze through it tonight, but what I've seen is terrific.

One of the coolest books on model cars EVER. This had to be a ton of work, and it shows.

This is terrific history.

They're available from Car Tech Books, and Amazon. You owe it to yourself.

In the meantime, I'm going to have a ball reading. Never know--maybe I'll build a muscle car or two.... This is a very impressive book.

Darn! It's presently sold out on Amazon. And there is nothing about it on eBay. The good news, even though it's sold out, Amazon will let you preorder it for later delivery. Boyd's stuff is the best. I'm looking forward to this.

Mr. Boyd I did just that. I cancelled my order with Amazon. And ordered one directly from Car Tech Books. Hopefully I'll get it quicker that way. After all, they are not all that far from me.

Just knowing this book was written by you. I know it will be a good one. I'm really looking forward to see it!

I know it will meet my expectations. But then again, I have very low expectations! ? Of course I'm kidding. Everything you written in the past, books or magazine articles, that I've seen has always been best. And I'm sure this will be too.

I received this book via Amazon late last Saturday and had completely read it from cover to cover by Tuesday night. Tim, a fantastic job on an extremely detailed and thoughtful presentation of the muscle car kits I lusted after during my childhood (and quite frankly, still do). And a special "thank you" for your candid observations on which versions to purchase and more importantly - which to avoid - when trying to model a specific version or showroom stock replica. This information alone is worth the price of admission and I highly recommend everyone pick up this book and treat it as the invaluable tool it will be as you research future projects. Kudos to Tim and all the books contributors for your continued service to the hobby, this book is IMPRESSIVE!

I'm a little over 2/3 through Tim's book. This thing is fantastic. I especially appreciate chapters 3 and 11 dealing mainly with the bigger cars. A great overview of models kits based on most of the great cars from 1950 through 1974. There is even a little sprinkling of proto, non muscle cars. Another great book by Mr. Boyd. Another great addition to my book collection.

I finished my first full read through of the book yestday morning. Note, my first read through. I guarantee I'll be reading parts, if not all of the book again in the future. Mr. Boyd is a very good writer. As I said before, for book is both informative and entertaining. Good job Tim.

The text and photos are all great, worth the price of entry, the side bars, however are the icing on the cake and I do mean cake, They don't come any better than this.

I got my copy Tuesday, haven't read all of it yet.  But then again, I did read it earlier, only piecemeal.  It's "just right".  Tim's writing style is great, the photos are excellent (the beat-up boxes in some shots are representative of what you sometimes see for sale, or have in your own collection).  The photos of built models are all very good, with many of the builds by well-known and highly knowledgeable builders.  They show the subjects in their best light.  

I like the desirability factor as opposed to a price guide.  eBay threw a lot of things out of whack years ago, and continues to do so.  The dollar signs a lot of people saw (and continue to see) there brought a lot of stuff out, that might otherwise have gone to landfills or might still be sitting in attics and basements somewhere.  I know my own collection expanded considerably since then (and I've also moved a bunch of stuff out, as well as selling other items to pay for things I've kept).  The books with price guides often get minimal updates, the pictures get shuffled around, and become "updated editions" with nothing new for the enthusiast.   

The stories about the development of some of these kits are great too; you get a better idea of just how long it takes to get something to production.  The narrative brings in related areas of interest, but never goes off on a tangent which could be easy to do.  It's packed with information yet is concise.  Even after you read it in its entirety, you'll find yourself reaching for it again later on.
