Chuck Most Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 This is the AITM short-nose 9500 cab kit, perched on top of an AMT GMC Astro 95. I modified the front wheels to fit the float tires from an Ertl IH Paystar, and made up mirror and exhaust brackets. All in all, one of the easiest conversions I've done in a while. Now I'm ready to order another one and the long-nose variant. 2
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Awesome build!! Looks great!! Winn Dixie grocery stores used to run these trucks. I hope to build one of these one day myself. I have the two headlight grill for one of these.
drinkone2 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 That's a tough looking GMC. How did you do the windshields, did you fab your own moldings?

Yep- I used some plastic D-section and overlapped it a bit over the opening, so that the clear piece would fit flush against it from the inside. Thanks guys!
leafsprings Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Great job! Using a GM frame with a GM cab really adds to the authenticity.
gatorincebu Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Chuck that is one really good looking model you have there. Well done ! Be Well Gator
Rick315-8 Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Really nice job !.....the sound of a 318 Detroit ideling away is the first thing that comes to mind when looking at the pictures !
redneckrigger Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Brings back memories of a very similar truck I used to have, only difference is mine had the flip nose and a 24 foot roll back equipment body. BEAUTIFUL build!
SpreadAxle Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 This is a really nice build. This truck isn't one we see modeled very often.
Chuck Most Posted April 11, 2022 Author Posted April 11, 2022 Bumping this for a couple reasons. It now has two little sisters (thanks to the recently completed '79 Caballero), and also to honor Dave. Now if you will pardon me, the RJ's GMC General that I started right after doing the '72 service truck is calling me...
