Interesting, the few Cobra kits from US manufactures

Was thinking about this for awhile, the few US kit makers with Cobra kits.

They do cover most all the popular scales however.

Starting from the smallest Monogram 1/43rd scale, and this is really a very well done kit.

Next up a nice Snap kit also from Monogram in 1/32nd scale.

Now the ubiquitous AMT 289 slab side roadster that has been around since the beginning. Really nothing to fix here, especially if they include all the great parts and accessories they've had through the years.

Another Monogram kit, the 427 monster. They have done just about every version of this car.

For the large scale 1/16th, crowd MPC put forth a great effort, lots of detail and options.

Sadly the only Dayton Coupes are curb side from Lindberg in both 1/32nd and 1/24th.

Now AMT, Matchbox, Lindsey and now Round2 have given us quit a few variations on the ONE kit,

If I missed any please help us out and post up a photo.

Again, mods, pleas don't combine these.

Someone had to finally give us The Monster 427 Cobra. Thank you Monogram and so many thank you for doing it in 1/24th scale. 

Now don't be bashful, if I miss any post em up.

That last one looks like a double kit, but I don't believe it is.

Which one came with the Shelby and Ken Miles figures ?

The only real improvement I could suggest for the old AMT would be to go ahead and mold the vents into the front fenders to make it a common production 289 instead of an early 260. And maybe offer at least one regular up-top--soft or hard, or preferably both.

Yes I did !   I also do have the above version. I have about 60 unbuilt Cobra kits from various manufactures.

One of the versions of the Lindberg Cobra coupe was one of the first snap kits I got as a kid, mid 70s, around age 5.  Still have it somewhere in it's brush painted glue blob form..

We're in sore need of a really good Daytona coupe! Why that one's been overlooked in a 'regular' scale is beyond me. Of course, one could go high buck and get the MFH or HRM kits (I have one of the latter), but it sure would be nice if someone stepped up to the plate and made a nice detailed glue kit in 1/24-25 scale.

I had heard rumors of years ago that Tamiya had plans for a super detailed 1/12 kit of this car. Anyone know anymore about that or was that wishful thinking out here on the 'net? Expensive that kit would be for sure, but I can 'bout guarantee that would be a VERY much wanted kit!

I'd bet there are a great number here that haven't seen any of that, much less been on the board that long.

WOW ! That would still be a real treat. Even in a smaller 1/25th or 1/24th scale something like that from Tamiya, WOW !

The Lindbergh kit is a snap kit toy that could be useable with perhaps a 1/24 289 chassis.  Of course you can drop a few bills on the HRM kit (worth the money) or the other resin kits.  Give that only six were made is probably what keeps the model companines from spending on tooling.  The Gunze kit would be a start but it has issues and was not a cheap kit even in its day.  The legacy of the real cars does make them one of the most dreamed about cars of all time and has been copied (Superformance, Factory Five) as well as McClusky and Shelby making continuation cars because they are still cool looking over 50 years later.
