Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) Rex, what are you showing us in your picture ? Super detail. Looks better than my Exoto 1/18th diecast. https://www.exoto.com/s/1/ProductOverview.aspx?Language=en&CategoryId=158 Edited August 21, 2018 by Greg Myers
Dave Van Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 If Accurate Miniatures had made it longer than it did......we would have gotten a full range of Cobras.....they had done the design work for a number of high end die cast so info was in house.
The Junkman Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 About 4 years ago Academy promised a Daytona Coupe, even had it illustrated in the future release file and then "poof", gone like vapor. A modern 289 in the street, USRRC, and FIA bodies would be like printing money. A 427 with bulged rear fenders as most all the race versions had should be pretty easy. I have to believe that licensing was/is the bugaboo. Carroll Shelby never met a dollar that he didn't want a piece of and it seems the company continues that tradition.

Looks better than my Exoto 1/18th diecast. It's a 1/18 scale model by Michel Stassart. More info here. It looks like a 1/18 Shelby Collect diecast, which is really detailed and goes for 67 bucks. SfanGoch Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Checked the Shelby Store and this is available for $59.95. Lots of other nice 1/18 diecasts listed, all of which are superbly detailed.
Gramps46 Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 K&B did two hard plastic Daytona slot bodies and they are different. They are small but will fit on an AMT chassis I believe. Unfortunately the clear glass is molded into the bodies. Here along with my Gunze and Lindberg kits. Â
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 and aside from the metal kits these are just reissues of the Monogram kits. (Just ?) Yeah, they're still great kits.Â
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 "They are small but will fit on an AMT chassis I believe." on my list of thins to do. Thanks Gary.
Gramps46 Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 This is the only slab side in 1/24th scale that I have or am aware of. Of course it is a diecast and the wire wheels are not so great.
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Other, as in NOT the same as earlier discussed. The GUNZE SANGYO being the first super kit with all the bells and whistles.
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) and the infamous Sunny Basically the AMT 289 kit with a 427 body. Edited August 21, 2018 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Not a kit, but interesting just the same, from EXOTO, the Shelby Daytona Cobra wooden buck. in 1/18th scale, Thanks Peter Brock.
Matt Bacon Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Don't forget this one: Monogram kit but with a whole load of white metal parts cast by Fine Molds... and very nice they are too: best, M.
Greg Myers Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Just love the photo on this Hiroboy kit
cobraman Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I have not been able to snag that one. I bid on a couple that popped up on the bay but they went for more than I was willing to spend.
cobraman Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Kyosho also does a Daytona body that is pretty nice. I put one on a Monogram chassis.
