Ballroad Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Just some quick photos of my first Tamiya 66 Volkswagen bug. I really liked the kit, a real treat!.My ideas came from the website "The Samba" if you like Volkswagen's definitely check it out.I don't like my models looking too new and shiny, please give me your input... thanks,
Classicgas Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Looks good, nice weathering. You may want to dirty up the wheels to match.
Eric Macleod Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I have been thinking of trying out this kit. Its a good build?

MrObsessive Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 I've not done weathered vehicles as that's not my forté, but this is VERY realistic! And yes, I have this kit but have never built it and each one I know that has, say that it's practically trouble free. You can expect no less from Tamiya. I'm torn though whether to build this '66, or down the road spend the money on Bestmodelcarparts.com's '57 VW transkit which is also very nice!
OldTrucker Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Looks like this old bug is in need of a restoration! Great job of weathering!
Ballroad Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 Thanks for the comments, I'm still new at this as I just started again this summer, although I built some to offset my model train's, and old radio work. I've been bittyby the Volkswagen bug just received the VW panel van ( yagermiester?) Looks like a fun build Revell Germany, Amazon, came from Hong Kong! Unbelievable! Got it in record time, will post more on this.... thanks
Oldmopars Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 You did a great job, looks good. As for suggestions, you might want to use a flat clear and dirty the wheels. maybe even a little rust to the bumpers.
Italianhorses Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Like it! Weathering looks great, but I think you should not have clear-coated (or whatever sealant was used) it. It looks a bit off because its shiney, and rusty cars are never shiny! These are terrific kits from Tamiya, and yours turned out awesome!
Scalper Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 looks great.. nice work on the weathering..
mustang1989 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Good lookin' bug and as has been said, good job on the weathering.
