shoopdog Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I guess I must be going blind as I've been working on my Linberg 67 Olds 442 for a couple of months now and got quite the surprise when I went to fit the rear bumper. As you can see in my pic that the left 1/4 panel did not fill all the way in the mold. I can't believe I never saw it after repeated body washing, priming and sanding and what I thought was going to be my best paint job yet. I've had this kit for a couple of years now and had pulled it out and looked it several times also before putting it on the back burner. I suppose I'll be awful proud of the passenger side in my display case.
Deuces Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Give Lindberg a buzz and they just might send you a new body free of charge.... Edited September 23, 2018 by Deuces
Rodent Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Fill it with putty, prime, install Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Michigan plates and call it a day.
BKF Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Hate to see that happen! It is a nice paint job too.
iBorg Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Looks like the beginning of a great survivor car from a few winters too many. I've been told the best weathered cars start with good body work.
berr13 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I'm happy these days if I get a good left or right side. It's asking too much for both.
Fat Brian Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Round 2 reissued this kit pretty recently, they might still have a few to pull a body from. It wouldn't hurt to send them an email to check.
Snake45 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Lindberg owes you a good body. Contact them, and send this pic. If that doesn't work, this is fixable. It's not difficult, just time-consuming and tedious. Dunno how hard it might be to match the paint, though.

Deuces Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Just do it!!!!...... The most they can say is???? Your joking, right???
Jon Cole Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Now's your chance to try autobody! It's just plastic. Cut a filler from scrap plastic, glue, sand, fill. Mask off everything but the rear quarter and back, and spray. Yeah, it's a pain in the tuckkus, but that's model building. “It's always something.” ― Gilda Radner

You shouldn't HAVE to, but then the world is full of stuff you shouldn't HAVE to do.
Tom Geiger Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Just now, Deuces said: Call Lindberg yet???? Lindberg doesn't exist anymore. The kits are now under the Round 2 umbrella.

ChrisBcritter Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Hmm. Anyone have a good '67 body and some 2-part putty-type rubber? Someone could mold a copy of the rear area of the quarter panel, send the mold to Keith, and he could put the mold on the body and backfill it with resin. I used that method to fix a broken tailfin on a '61 T-bird.
