This was a nice kit and nice decals.
Some shoehorning to get the chassis in the body.
OOB except for the ignition cables.
Color is Tamiyas TS-17, “Gloss Aluminum”.

Very nice.

I'm kind of a VW fan having had 3 Bugs, a Rabbit the same year as this GTI, and finally a 2016 GTI ... took me awhile to get one.

Very well done. I want to do one of these at some point. I'm a recovering VW guy so it's got a great appeal, but mine would be "lightly modded"

They are nice kits, lots of parts and definitely capture the character of the car.  You've done a nice job on yours!

Here's a couple of the same kit that I have built, the second has been modified to represent a later Mk1 Golf GTI.  They've now released the later variant (which I have on order) but it would be great if Revell released a four door version - then I could do a replica of my first car, a 1983 GL.

Super clean build, I worked for V.A.G here in the U.K.for 6 years, so these models bring back a lot of memories, I've got a few of these to build.

Yours look very nice too, Jim. The antenna rods appear to be a bit thickish though?

Thanks Tommy!  Yes, the antennas are a bit thick, they were built for a magazine and the editor didn't want too much done to the kits (the red one was virtually a box stock build except for the bumpers and registration plates).  If I was building one for myself and thinking about contests I'd use guitar string, stretched sprue or something similar.

Beautiful work! Brings back memories as I was the owner of a '79 GTI in Inari silver metallic back in the mid 80's...

Does the Revell kit come with a LHD dash as well as a RHD?
