Zoom Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 This was a nice kit and nice decals. Some shoehorning to get the chassis in the body. OOB except for the ignition cables. Color is Tamiyas TS-17, “Gloss Aluminum”.
Foxer Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Very nice. I'm kind of a VW fan having had 3 Bugs, a Rabbit the same year as this GTI, and finally a 2016 GTI ... took me awhile to get one.
Red318 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Excellent, looks just the way I remember them.
Scalper Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Sharp build looks super realistic .. nice work
Ich_Will Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Very well done. I want to do one of these at some point. I'm a recovering VW guy so it's got a great appeal, but mine would be "lightly modded"
Jim Whalen Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 They are nice kits, lots of parts and definitely capture the character of the car. You've done a nice job on yours! Here's a couple of the same kit that I have built, the second has been modified to represent a later Mk1 Golf GTI. They've now released the later variant (which I have on order) but it would be great if Revell released a four door version - then I could do a replica of my first car, a 1983 GL.
GeeBee Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Super clean build, I worked for V.A.G here in the U.K.for 6 years, so these models bring back a lot of memories, I've got a few of these to build.
Safire6 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Very nice! I like the plaid seats.....just like on my 1:1 2015 GTI. Nice work!

Yours look very nice too, Jim. The antenna rods appear to be a bit thickish though?
peekay Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 These seem to be excellent kits and you did a great job building one. Very realistic.
Eric Macleod Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Excellent. I too had a Mk. I and Mk.II and loved them. Your model looks SOOOO good. I love the interior!

Yes, the antennas are a bit thick, they were built for a magazine and the editor didn't want too much done to the kits (the red one was virtually a box stock build except for the bumpers and registration plates). If I was building one for myself and thinking about contests I'd use guitar string, stretched sprue or something similar.
ATHU Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Beautiful work! Brings back memories as I was the owner of a '79 GTI in Inari silver metallic back in the mid 80's...

Does the Revell kit come with a LHD dash as well as a RHD?
