afx Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 Appreciate the comments and the interests gentlemen. Chute & mount, I'll add the release cable later. 1
Scott8950 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 can't wait to see this car finished. awesome work.. I've got one on the way and watching your progress has me excited to start on mine.
afx Posted February 15, 2019 Author Posted February 15, 2019 Thanks Scott. Look forward to seeing your project come together.
Dann Tier Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Moving along GREAT, bud!!!, and that Trumpeter hood does look waaay better -crisper! I'm so glad you are finally getting more time to build!!
afx Posted February 15, 2019 Author Posted February 15, 2019 Thanks Dann. The Trumpeter hood isn't 100% correct but is an improvement. I'll try to keep up the building momentum.

I tellya, you're so close to Daddy Warbucks in so many ways that you might as well take off the side trim and go ahead and DO DW. I don't think that trim removal would be too troublesome for someone of your skill. Go for it!
bogger44 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Truly insirational work JC! She's looking phenomenal and you're providing a great tutorial on all the steps your taking. I might have to buck up and try my hand at this with one of my Falcon kits, using your's as a guide. Best of luck with the headers!
afx Posted February 16, 2019 Author Posted February 16, 2019 (edited) Thanks Tony. I'll study the headers and post any ideas of a better installation method I come up with. Would love to have the trim Removed Snake but don't want to risk the body at this point. I don't have a spare if I screw it up. Edited February 17, 2019 by afx

I'd always assumed that Daddy Warbucks and Gas Ronda were both Ford Poppy Red--a sort of reddish orange--but in this pic, Ronda's looks slightly but distinctly redder. Lighting/distance illusion? Two different colors? Two different "interpretations" of Poppy Red? Or just my imagination?
iBorg Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I took a screen shot of the picture and opened it up in Photoshop and used the color picker to examine the colors. I used both the rear pillar and the roof figuring these would have similar lighting characteristics. If anything the Gas Mustang is slightly redder although distance tends to make colors darker. There may be a slight variation but I think to the naked eye the colors would be the same unless you had the two different colors side by side.

Excellent builds both but it looks like they struggled with maintaining a sharp panel crease. Edited February 17, 2019 by afx 1
Snake45 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 I doubt either one of those guys had your sheer skill. I've seen what you can do.
2002p51 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Impressive work so far. You really nailed the stance.
afx Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 Appreciate you confidence in me Snake I'll keep studying it. Thanks Drew. I put a lot of effort in choosing the wheel/tire combos and the stance. Miss on those and that can really bring a build down, IMHO.
Dann Tier Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 I think you can do it too, bud!! ifit were me, i'd use masking tape for a guide at the peak. do one side, then the other, moving the tape......but you probably know this already..lol
afx Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 Sorry Scott I got side tracked on a few other projects, should be back on this one soon.

Brutalform Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Excellent pictures of your scratch building skills JC. This is really coming along nicely.
afx Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 Thanks Tom. Got the headers pin mounted. Replaced to oil breathers with nicer units from HRM. Drilled out the molded screen on the intake trumpets, might leave them open or install real screen later. 2
GoatGuy Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I like what you're doing with this build. Looking forward to more.
dublin boy Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 I don't know how I missed this one JC, great work. That SOHC looks very nice. I have a Model King repop, it's probably the only one in Ireland I'd imagine. Keep going!
