guitarsam326 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Gonna be a miracle if i can actually build something in six months ???
Goodwrench3 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 LOL !! In a weekend I *might* get the engine block halves glued together .. and maybe the oil pan. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that is nervous about finishing one in 6 months ;-)
tbill Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Nothing to it guys, an hour a day gets a lot done. Granted, last year I missed the model bench for almost 6 months, since last October I’ve built 8 cars, one rig, and about done with a trailer. I couldn’t build last years TAT rig in a year, but got it done in less than a month once I got after it, lol. Just have fun, if it gets done, it gets done?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Time to start slinging some glue Sam! Looking forward to seeing this one finished! Welcome to the Build Off!!
Sam I Am Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I think when I get around to building mine I am going with the box art green. That's what drew me to the kit. Looking forward to following yours.
stitchdup Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Nice choice, these mack's have a tough look to them
gotnitro? Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Cant wait to see your progress, the color choice sounds great
Rusty92 Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 It’s a Mack! You’ll have a lot of fun. Don’t sweat the 6 months. With only a few hours weekly you can churn out a very nice model.
guitarsam326 Posted February 12, 2019 Author Posted February 12, 2019 Ok, here's a very rough mock up. Im not sure how i feel about the Mercury, i will most likely go with a different sleeper, something a little more rounded. There will also be some frame added.
guitarsam326 Posted February 12, 2019 Author Posted February 12, 2019 3 hours ago, Sam I Am said: I agree about the sleeper. I have all but decided to go with the restrite sleeper that AITM offers... If you haven't built this kit before (its a first for me) the rear suspension is a n alignment nightmare ???
PettyKW43 Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 The restrite sleeper is the old Peterbilt piece, a suggestion is to go with the 36 Ablebody unit which was offered by Mack
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Looks great Sam!! I'm the oddball though. I think that the Mercury sleeper makes this truck. Check out some of the online pictures of these trucks with Mercury sleepers. They just look cool! Looks great though, whatever you decide.
gotnitro? Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Your mack looks good so far, and totally agree the rear suspension was terrible to assemble. Either sleeper would look good on these road warriors
Goodwrench3 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 I'm kinda liking the look of that Mercury sleeper on that vintage of truck.
BuilderX Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I do like the mercury sleeper on this Mack
tbill Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Looking good, I must admit, I kinda like a more rounded sleeper, but, the mercury doesn’t look too bad on there. So ya, no help from me
guitarsam326 Posted February 26, 2019 Author Posted February 26, 2019 I have all but decided on the restrite sleeper, i have also lengthened the frame about 40 scale inches although that isnt pictured here.
guitarsam326 Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 Just checking in for the March update... No progress lol
