Atmobil Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Maybe this is the wrong category but Revell is releasing another 1:24 old tractor:

Since the takeover it's increasingly difficult to buy their wares and to boost sales they don't show up at trade fairs?

I wonder if that is a collaboration with Revell or if they have made new molds on their own. Very nice to see a more standard version of the splitwindow bus and not just the samba and the panelvan. I knew if I stalled the build long enough someone would finally put out a Kombi I could build my Dad's '56, with a lot of work still!

Question is whether it will contain any of the body refinements we suggested based on the original c.2013 Hemi-Cuda kit. I was told it could not be done, but over the years I have seen Revell say just that, then find a way to include some of those suggestions in their final products. Even without any refinements, it would (will?) be a huge improvement over the prior two 1/24th scale AAR attempts based on the original Challenger T/A tool.....TIM

Wonder where the hot rod/street rod kits are? Thought I saw somewhere some other catalog pages with at least a reissue of the '32 Five Window kit with box art derived from the original kit release. But sadly, no signs of a second run of the new-tool '29A Roadster and '30A Five Window kits. TIM
Dave Van Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Nice to see the Monogram HO scale Big Boy loco kit back. a nice kit.....wonder what the $$$ will be??

Let me count the ways: They collapse under their own weight if you try to stack them. You can't store a WIP or built kit in them. In some cases the unbuilt kit doesn't even fit comfortably. Any loose parts will inevitably find their way out between the box and the end flap. I could go on, but I'm getting wound up just thinking about the damned things. With apologies to E Barrett Browning This should be acknowledged for the Browning reference alone. (That, and of course your dead-correctness about Revell flat boxes.)

You have done good work on that one, is that based on the Hasegawa Samba or Panel? A modelling friend of mine started a project on making a ambulance out of the Hasegawa Panel some 12-15 years ago. He had gotten to the stage og making the side windows using the samba windows as templates. I guess it will be a lot easier to make an ambulance conversion with the new Kombi kit as one only has to move the rear tailgate hinges to the bottom of the tailgate instead of the top.
niteowl7710 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 While I too loathe the RevellAG flatboxes to a certain extent, but exactly how high are you stacking them, that they're collapsing? Is your hobby area subject to earthquakes or under a trampoline park?
Rob Hall Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I've stacked RoG kits 6 high without problems.
martinfan5 Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 I am not fan of the boxes either, and I try to limit how many other kit boxes I stack on top them, but my real issue with them , at least for me, is once you take the contents out, those contents will never seem to go back in the way they came out, no matter how good you are at Tetris ( at least for me, it may be different for you)
Mike Chernecki Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Don't complain about the boxes, they may bring back those stupid flip top donut boxes.

I personally like them and will be getting the Deutz D30. I do wonder if we will ever see another 1/25 new American big rig ever again. Ben
El Roberto Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Oooooooooo I have to have that Yamaha DT1. It was my first "real" bike. It hurt me several times but I still love it.

One of these days they might actually issue that DS21, they showed that thing for the first time at Nuremberg in 2017...I think my pre-order at HLJ is over a year old at this point. I've just been in contact with my contact from Ebbro in Japan, the DS21 should be ready by the spring

They opened the pre-orders for those things before Shizouka LAST year for a Fall Release after dragging it around since February of 2017. I don't even know if I care enough to recieve it at this point, especially given that it's gonna run over $75 directly from Japan.
