Snake45 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Yes, it's relevant. Don't forget to buy your sweetie a box of chocolate wrapped in red cellophane. That stuff is wonderful for making custom taillight lenses, and this is about the only time of year you can find it so easily. (And CHEAP! It's basically free.) I used it to rework the taillights on this glue bomb rescue '65 GTO (with Micro Metal Foil Adhesive).
iamsuperdan Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 As if I needed another excuse to get some more chocolate in the house! lolz Definitely remembering this though.
Oldcarfan27 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 My wife'll kill me if I bring her sweets - and I'm not ready to die for my hobby!

Richard Bartrop Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 On the subject of candy-related modeling material, some of the fancier chocolate bars have a foil wrap embossed with a pattern that makes a convincing thermal blanket.
89AKurt Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I've snatched fuzzy vacuum-formed packaging, easy enough to airbrush black.
stitchdup Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Remember to save the clear lids from some of the chocs too, it works well for making new glass and some of it doesn't fog when superglue is used
BigTallDad Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I wait until the day after...the candy is on sale. Same holds true for Easter, Christmas, etc.
ewetwo Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 OMG. It's amazing the resources everyone has. I have a hard time thinking out of the box. I would have never thought of this Snake. LOL.
Ich_Will Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) I never thought of the cellophane trick. In semi-related news I have it on good authority my wife is buying me a model kit for Valentine's day. She's a keeper. Edited February 4, 2019 by Ich_Will

Richard Bartrop Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Also, it you want to separate the paper backing from candy wrappers, apply a little paint thinner, and it slides right off.

She's been on a diet and she's crabby enough without me adding to it! Celery sticks might get me a hug, chocolate will have her reaching for a rolling pin!
