David Thanks a lot. I would like to say that I’m very grateful for the support given by everyone. It has kept me motivated. At some point I will share the techniques I have used (many I obtained from the internet and YouTube channels and others I just thought of).
QbanFam Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 I pour the resin for the creek water. I made the mistake of gluing the beige before pouring it, so it was a little challenging. It was a scary process, since it was my first time making faux water and did not want to ruin my diorama. I just need to give some final touches, such as some small ripples (to show some small water movement). I also added some random bird drops on the bridge, as suggested here in the forum (I need more practice on this. LOL). Then I need to patch some areas around the bridge and abutment, where the layers of cork are still seen.

Gramps46 Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I think you hit the mark with the water. Looks very realistic.

uncle potts Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I like what you've done. I've always wanted to try water but been afraid of it. Going to have to get my feet wet someday.

Anglia105E Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Brave move with adding the water Yordan...... and I do remember how I was feeling as I sprayed real water onto months of careful detailing work with my diorama streets. Having taken the plunge ( excuse the pun ) you now have a marvellous effect that really works. First time experiments on the actual diorama are right up there on the bravery scale for sure! David

QbanFam Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 (edited) Ripples added to the water. Also, notice the birds nest on the the top of the left abutment (thank you, Raymond, for the suggestion) I used some fibers from a palm tree to make it. Im sure there are better methods but this one looked natural. Edited March 3, 2019 by QbanFam

Anglia105E Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 You must be really pleased with those ripples, Yordan..... and I didn't realise that you added the ripples after the resin water had already dried? I assumed that you would have to add the ripple effect while the water resin was still wet. The bird's nest looks just right, as does all of this diorama setting. You are giving me some serious competition here Yordan! David
Gramps46 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Just noticed the bird's nest on the beam under the bridge. Very nice touch.

You are giving me some serious competition here Yordan! David Thank you David. The ripples were added after the resin was dried. I used Gloss Mod Podge and a brush to create it. Just load the brush with the product and tap over the surface. The smaller the texture you give the smaller ripples. You can create bigger ones by layering. It’s white when applied by clear when dried. I don’t know about the competition, though. Lol. I way too far from being near your skills. Edited March 4, 2019 by QbanFam

It was a recommendation from a member of this forum and it fits well. I take note from any criticism and ideas to make my dioramas better and I love the challenges.

The more I spend time on these projects the more I realize that, to make a diorama look as realistic as possible, it has to be worked on multiple layers. That’s how the real environment works, right? Layers of dust, dirt, debris, mildew on bottom of trees and shaded areas, grease from vehicles, etc. And no surface is uniform. I take advice from members of this forum as well.

I thought I was going to ruin the diorama because I attached the bridge before adding the resin. It was a challenge and I had to be extremely careful.
Belugawrx Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Beautiful work on this Q The water effects, the moss on the rocks, it all fits nicely. Cheers well done

Cheers well done Thank you Bruce. It has been a lot of work. It’s my second diorama ever. I made a lot of mistakes during the process. Lol.
