Heres a little bit of an update...the start of my custom guage cluster, and other interior bits.

-Photo 3&4; After rounding off the Corvette seats for a more realistic cushioned look, i had to get them off the floor, so i used styrene to do this.

-Photo 5; This is the start of a steering column.

Here's a little bit of an update...

Hmmmmm. I thought i was the only one elevating front seats to slightly above the carpet. My method much simpler, though. Maybe i should make a post in Tips..........

BTW, nice work so far.

Thanks, i hate seats on the floor, lol

Moving along with this build as well....got a bunch of rough work in, now its time to sand it all....painting should be right around the corner!

-Photo 1; In order to fit the Grand Sports motor, i had to get rid of the existing tranny mount, and engine cradle. Then with strips of sheet styrene, i began to make new ones...I also removed the tie rod, and sway bar for now.

-Photo 2&3; For strength, as well as a nice finished look, i added a strip of Uber-fine styrene to cover all the joints on the top side. You can see from the straight on photo what it looked like before i added putty.

-Photo 4; The engine fits great!!

-Photo 5; I found that i needed to add styrene to the floor under the seats. The seats wouldnt set right for me without it.

-Photo 6; A quick mock-up...its looking just as i hoped!

-Photo 7; I sanded off all the molded in firewall detail.

-Photo 8; Although this is one of AMT's best kits, the interiors side panel fitment isnt that great...notice the gap between the door card, and door itself -unsightly....sometimes i dont mind gaps...especially before the painting proccess adds its thickness, but this gap isnt even even with the body....i will have to tweak something....Hmmmm.

-Photo 9; Here i temperarily attached the side pipes to the chassis, so that i could perminantly glue the headers to them in the proper position.

This build is starting to pick up momentum!

-Photo 1; Filler kept sanding out....even CA glue wasnt filling them. When i get stubborn seams that need to be filled in, i will super glue VERY thin styrene over the spot...add more glue all around it, then sand it smooth after its dry -works a treat!

-Photo 2; In order to move along on the interior work, i needed to add a shifter base. Next will be adding vents to the dash top, re-scribing the door card seams, and making the rear seat look like its NOT part of the parcel tray.

-Photo 3&4; As you can see, the headers are still gonna work GREAT!!...just need to curve them a tiny bit to touch the heads.

Really like the wheel/tire combo.

Thanks, Bud!!...tyres are from an AMT Viper, and the wheels are from an AMT 57? Corvette Gasser kit.

Amazing as all your builds.

I think that I will have to start to lift the seats from the floor too..... Makes the interiors less toy like, after all.

Heres another interior update...its moving right along now!

-Photo 1&2; Not sure why the speaker, and vents werent on the dash top, but they needed them...here are the vents...the speaker is on its way.

-Photo 3; Styrene rod column...Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO steering wheel, and a turn signal stalk that i had laying around.

-Photo 4; Its gonna do the job...

-Photo 5; Its hard to tell i guess, but i scribed the door seams deeper.

-Photo 6-10; Scribing the seats to help convey separate cushions, and to give a more realistic look, really does work well!

-Photo 11; The putty for the shifter base was all cured, so i glued down the shifter that i sourced from a Tamiya Subaru rally car. The whole interior is gonna be black anyway, and as much pre-assembly i can do, will make for fewer bits, and easier painting.

-Photo 12; The engine cradle is all sanded, and ready to go...

Great, that's something I've noticed before on my builds, but never made my Pet Peeve list. ?  Should do that on my NART, but have a hole without carpet, but just a millimeter should be good.  I was thinking of screwing them on too, since that's how I mounted to a bottle for doing the piping.

You going to shave off the window cranks from the door panels?

First time I've seen this build, looking real good, love the engine and wheels.  I liked the first year of this generation, but then the Dark Ages descended upon Detroit with safety regulations, and the battering ram bumpers just killed esthetics.

Thanks, Bud!!, Your Ferrari looks Perf!!, I havent quite decided if i will shave them off, and SB my own, snip them off...modify them, and put them back on, OR do that slick little trick you came up with using the PE saw...

You have texture that is a challenge to match.  Why not just make electric windows, put a Decora switch plate there? ?

Thats a really good idea too!!...it is a mildly updated look i'm going for....Danke!!

A bit more done on the dash here. To make the speaker, i drew out a grid, then used a poker to make the holes. this is the first time trying this method, and i think it turned out okay, but i may fill it and try something different -still thinking on it. Next i will add some trim around the guage cluster for visual interest.

Great build as always! First time I se a early 2gen t-top. Have only seen the face lift version with It. And trans am of course, but I have believe they open more than yours.
