Joe Handley Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I saw that, I think a Turbine is getting repainted too.
bamadon Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 I saw one of these on display at Steamtown in Scranton PA. You don't realize how big they are until you're standing right next to them.
iamsuperdan Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 But how many chuggas before the choo choo does it make??
ChrisBcritter Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 At first it sounded like Godzilla with a head cold, but but it got much better by the end.

Here's part of the answer to your question...though she's being helped by a diesel on these first shakedown runs. Edited May 4, 2019 by Ace-Garageguy
misterNNL Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Thanks for posting these great videos. The sight and sounds of those steam trains brings back some great childhood memories of growing up in the 1940's. I lived about four blocks from station and would ride my '48 Schwinn bike there and marvel at the shear power and massive size of those engines. Good stuff for those here of a certain age.
Joe Handley Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 This Big Boy is in town this weekend, with Dad being a retired railroader, I've spent a good bit of time around trains, but this monster couldn't be more accurately named Then here is one of the pictures I shot on Friday from the Metra Station on the other side of the Tracks to the north of this lot.
Joe Handley Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 They're getting it ready to leave for Iowa this morning, already heard the whistle a couple times getting ready for work and I'm a half a mile away!
Dave Ambrose Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 I saw one at Scranton too. You have to see it in person. It will be visiting SoCal in early October. I think a railfan expedition is in order.
