JollySipper Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 I've been working on a Pro Modeler release of the '58 Corvette. I'm kinda going with a mild custom theme, as I'm taking liberties with the color scheme and maybe using some custom wheels. So far there's been progress on the interior...... and the engine and chassis. I decided to use the fuelie parts..... Color will be the same as the Starliner I finished earlier this year. I'm hoping for a pleasant contrast between the Dark Garnet and the red interior........ Thanks! and all comments are welcome
Modlbldr Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 I think that it is going to look good, especially in Dark Garnet. By chance, I just happened to update my 58 Vette build just now. Can never have too many Corvettes! Later-
DPNM Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Looks like you have a good start TJ. I'll be following along.
JollySipper Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 Thanks, you two........ Got some more done today, the chassis is pretty much finished, just have to decide what wheels I want to use.... and I'm testing some Krylon clear, it's called "Cover Maxx" and is an acrylic. Anyone ever use this stuff? I'm gonna wait until it cures a while, then try to polish it to see what kind of shine it has.... Thanks for looking! and comment freely........
Superbird McMonte Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 The ‘58 through ‘62 Corvette kits from Revell/Monogram are among my favorite kits to build. Last year I kitbashed the ‘58 and ‘62 to make a ‘61 from my youth. Worked so well I started another!
JollySipper Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 That's a pretty attractive model! I believe that I'll be able to get a decent shine out of the acrylic clear.... It's really nice to work with and dries hard enough to polish pretty quickly....
Modlbldr Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 That is going to be a beautiful color for that car. I look forward to seeing the outcome. Monte- Nice looking build you have there too. Later-
JollySipper Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Thank you, Guys! I got it colored and cleared today, it will look much better once I can polish it.... here's how the color combo looks... and I'm thinking of the chrome reverse rims for this... wheels are from the kit, tires are from the '60 Starliner, I believe..... Once I'm finished with the paint, I'll try to get some outside pics........
JollySipper Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 Got the interior all done! I'm working on getting the floor pan and chassis together now.....
Jonathan Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Ohhhh...... That's nice! Here's one I built when the Pro-Modeler kit first came out. Your build shows beautiful paint skills.
JollySipper Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 Thanks..... Well, I had a bit of bad luck with my paint. Tried to do some foiling, and some lifted..... Fortunately it's only on one panel, so I'm gonna try to touch it up the best I can.
Modlbldr Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Ouch! Looks like you should be able to accomplish your plan of touching up that panel. Sand it down, tape it off and respray. No one will be the wiser. I hope mine doesn't do that once I get to foiling. Later-
