olsbooks
Still trying to come up with realistic smoke. Ditto flags. Suggestions appreciated. Boat is subtly illuminated. Edited May 9, 2019 by olsbooks

olsbooks
Thank you for the kind words. Undeserved. The water is not resin. Home brew, mad (literally) scientist type stuff. Unrepeatable. Edited May 6, 2019 by olsbooks
Jim N
Looks spectacular! I really like what you did with the water. It looks like real river water.
Anglia105E
I can only repeat what others have said...... it is the water that caught my eye...... extremely realistic ( and not resin ) Your paddle steamer looks really good now that the water has been added. olsbooks
Crazy idea on smoke and wonder if anyone has tried this.....using woodland scenic tree foilage. It has potential (me thinks) to create the puffy shape but not be fuzzy. No idea what kind of paint or how to seal it that wont fill it in and make it look clumpy. olsbooks
Trees didnt work. Oh well. Dryer lint test underway.
paul alflen
jc ,How about using the smoke from what the train guys use? I don't know the name of it though!
olsbooks
Wanted to finish up this thread. I used dryer lint over steel wool over a thin brass rod. Hairspray holds it. It will be made "longer" but this works really well. Also, threw in one with it lit though very difficult to photograph and have lighting balanced time exposures pulled out "light leaks". TooOld
Well look at that ! I'd say you figured out the smoke ! Just wondering . . . how would that look on a smaller scale model ?
Anglia105E
Well JC..... not only did you get the water right, but also you got the smoke absolutely right too! This has turned out to be an extremely well built diorama setting, and the model of the paddle steamer is superb...... realistic and highly detailed. I do like that smoke. olsbooks
Thank you all for the kind words. Hopefully i (and to lesser extent this website) can get it together on pix, posts, and editing. Two other projects are underway and would like to do a start to finish journal.
