mrmike Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 This Shelby has been sitting on the shelf just covered in dust and dirt and screaming for a good cleaning and a rebuild. I also had to search for the engine that I removed for another project and never used it. After a couple of days of cleaning and rebuilding, I finished the GT350 this morning. The paint was cleaned and polished, the engine was reinstalled, and I replaced the kit wheels with the optional wheels from the AMT' 66 Mustang since they are close to the '68 Shelby wheels that I have been viewing lately. I treated the wheels to a good coating of Model Master Acryl Semi-Gloss Clear to knock down some of the shine from the chrome.
vamach1 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Looks all shined up fo a show. Maybe a air cleaner and caution fan decal to add some color to the engine compartment along with picking out the tops of the shocks (Koni red/orange) and I think the tail lights have a metal trim around them and the gas cap "decal" is gold. I really like the wheels although the 67 style wheels are nice too.
Belugawrx Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Gotta say Mike,..I've seen you do better Body and glass and interior, most bright work looks good!! Gotta clean those wheels and head covers of flash tho These big pics are merciless aren't they? Cheers
mrmike Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Well guys, it's like this...I built this model many, many years ago and long before I was concerned with adding detail and such. There is no Bare Metal Foil on the trim of this Shelby. I can't even remember if there were decals in this kit when I bought it! I can't get the paint I used anymore as it has been discontinued! I have corrected most of the issues with this model after I took the pictures and yes, those big pictures are merciless! Thank you all for pointing out these things to me. I appreciate the help!
Belugawrx Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Idle chatter aside,..what is happening with our hero sleuth..?

Yes we all have models we built years ago and could use some freshening up. When I build the 200 or so unbuilt ones I have I will get to those older builds which by then may be 40+ years old.
