cobraman Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Trying to convert this model to a AWB drag car . I say trying ! We will see how it goes . I’m going to need more putty and sandpaper !
bobthehobbyguy Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Great idea for a project. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
Greg Myers Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Looks like you could just swap those cut out fender openings side for side. Glue em up putty a little sanding and . . .
cobraman Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Thought of that but no go unless I wanted the inside on the outside of the other side. If I fit it right side out the up curve of the rear fender was by the door and would require more work I think. Does that make sense ?
cobraman Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Next step , laying on some Duplicolor filler primer and see how much more work I need to do .
Snake45 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 You need at least one more round of putty and sanding before you lay primer on, IMHO. What's that round? 10mm?
cobraman Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 I think your right Snake. Bullet is a .50 AE.

cobraman Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Looks like I rushed it a bit . I think adding the BMF to the trim may help it look a bit better . Maybe not !
Greg Myers Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) you've got some good body work there, nothing showing through Edited July 10, 2019 by Greg Myers
bobthehobbyguy Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Nice work. Great color. Nice job on the body work. Also a coupke of tips. I would have made the horizontal cut a little fourther down. Also use masking tape to prevent damaging the chrome trim when doing the body work.
cobraman Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 Thanks Bob. I was afraid to make the cut lower for fear of making the strip to narrow and flimsy. As for the trim, I did have it taped but as I sanded it out I couldn't help but tear up the tape a bit. I cleaned the trim up best I could with an hobby knife and I have my fingers crossed that the BMF will help it to look better. Of coarse there always is the chance it will be worse !
Greg Myers Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Gotta love that "FORD" Tunderbolt Teardrop hood. It gives it a sixties vibe. How did you do that ?
cobraman Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 Thank you ! The teardrop is a resin item I bought on the bay. It was a tad long for the hood so I bent the tip to fit and put on a bit of putty.
