GMP440 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 This MPC 1970 Dodge Charger original got no bids. Also, an MPC 68 Coronet kit received no bids as well. I gather no one bid on the charger kit maybe because you can get Revell's newly released 70 Charger R/T for a lot less? Also, the Coronet got no action as well. Makes you wonder what's going on in the model collecting hobby these days. SfanGoch Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 It went for five bills: https://www.ebay.com/itm/51-year-old-MPC-1968-Dodge-Coronet-R-T-3in1-100-amp-unbuilt-/153609127878?item=153609127878&ViewItem=&nma=true&si=uJpCkU8BU1CgTh6jwkoWSrt%2BrfY%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 I'd rather have this one, but it won't be today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-COSMA-RAY-1-25TH-SCALE-MODEL-KIT-505-200/113850367397?_trkparms=aid%3D333200%26algo%3DCOMP.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20171012094517%26meid%3D1469959bcd5a4a32999556a7bd4bbffe%26pid%3D100008%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D123837705553%26itm%3D113850367397%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219

That $500 is just what the seller set the first bid at. They set it way too high and no one bid on it because the first actual bid would have had to be over 500 bucks !

Dave Van Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 IMHO we have hit the high water mark for 1960's era kits and are on the downside. Think about the age factor.....early 1960's was right at 60 years ago!!!! Teens of the era are passing and collections are coming on market.....a market that is slim at best. My best buddy got 4 models off ebay in the last two weeks that 20 years ago each would have sold for more than he paid for all of them. Good unbuilt kits. It happened 20 years ago with Lionel trains....huge collections came up for sale as owners passed.....market demand was low....prices fell like a rock. The model values, for the most part, have not hit bottom yet. I have 5000+ kits in the stash......lots of guys do....when these all come to a small market......ugh

When I looked at the listing it said $499 starting bid with 0 bids. I guess that's what happened. I did see an unopened MPC '72 Impala go for 500 bucks a couple weeks ago though.
