BIGTRUCK Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 I have not built one of these since the 60s , so now here I am adding 1962 corvette skirts into the mix. Moved the front and rear spring shackles to lower the ride height without creating more work than I want to do.
Sixties Sam Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Very cool! I never saw one with skirts. Looks good! Sam
BIGTRUCK Posted September 2, 2019 Author Posted September 2, 2019 With the light body work done and final sanding completed I was able to get both colors on the '53 . Now to get the interior door panels done.
BIGTRUCK Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 Why is it when I get the paint where Im happy with it, I let it sit for 5 days, hit it with Krylon acrylic clear and after 1 day it krinkled up on just the blue, white is fine. The blue and white are both lacquer. Well I have a little more clean up before re prime and re paint, or dull coat it and leave it??
espo Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 That's a shame since the original paint job looked great. You might want to try some other clear just to see if it's the Krylon clear that 's the problem.
BIGTRUCK Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 Ok, I have it back in fresh primer after the disaster with the clear, and I made a few additions. Added new front top fender strips, lower rear bumperetts with plate.
BIGTRUCK Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 Ok ....I have this back in color again, sticking with one color and using the same brand primer , paint and clear. Try the clear again this week.
Chariots of Fire Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Just a suggestion. Try a bit of Novus polish without the clear and see if that doesn't protect the paint. It really looks good this time around.

Im as far as I can go at this point to make sure that purple paint has set up. Got the rear cover , seat and most on the chassis done today.
Modlbldr Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 It's looking good! Getting excited to see this one all finished. Later-

Modlbldr Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 (edited) I understand completely! A 41 Willys project I was working on a couple of years ago took 7 cans of Tamiya paint to finally get the paint job to come out right! Later- Edited September 16, 2019 by Modlbldr
Sledsel Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 I feel your paint woes...... Looking great. You can never have too many of this kit. So much you can do with it.
Cpt Tuttle Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Well, never fun to have to redo a paintjob, but on the positive side it looks much better in purple than in blue IMO.
