Brutalform Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Been playing around with another 1:24 Monogram Kit. I wanted to use up the rest of my Fireball parts. So it will have the six pack carbs, and rallye wheels, and tires. Painted it MM sublime green and Testors Extreme clear. Got it all polished up today. I want to add some shocks and some heater hoses, etc. since this kit lacks a few details. Plan on foiling, and adding the black stripes tomorrow, and possibly final assembly.
espo Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Great looking paint work. The interior is very realistic looking, and the carbs. look real. Look forward to seeing it Under Glass.
larman Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Great work so far. I like the Sublime....It may just be the pic, but is the driver side valve cover on upside down?
lghtngyello03 Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) Your build on the super bird was clean, and it appears that this will be too. Awesome color and paint work so far. Makes me want to build one. I’m definitely checking out fireball Modelworks parts now! Edited September 6, 2019 by lghtngyello03
johnwitzke Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Looking really good! You just cannot beat the Fireball carbs. They pay dividends on the look of the engine compartment

You might have me confused with another member.

The passenger side is as per the instructions, and I wanted the hole to be in the rear on the drivers side. This kinda messes things up a bit. I had pluming all figured out for the way they are now. I made a black breather for the rear of the passenger side cover that connects to the center carb.

Brutalform Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 No problem, And thank you for the positive reply.

The angled corners should be up. BTW, please don't think I am finding fault with your model, you do an excellent job, it just looked weird to me. -Larry

I’m glad you chimed in on that. And that I didn’t proceed further. I fixed the covers, but now I think I’m going to fix them again. I really want the black homemade breather to be situated on the rear of the engine. It really doesn’t matter what side at this point. I do know I wanted the covers to be chrome on this particular build. Edited September 6, 2019 by Brutalform
Brutalform Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 Now they just need to be switched around. Every pic I’ve seen has the oil cap on the pass side, but I’ll have to just have mine on the drivers side I suppose.
Scalper Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 nice start... the details on the wheels look great
larman Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 I built a Monogram '69 Super Bee quite a while ago, and I seem to remember having to change stuff around on the valve covers, and making a breather cap so they would match reference pics. I painted mine, so it was no big deal. Maybe the Roadrunner is the same way. Anyway, the valve covers look like they are good now! Not sure about the filler cap and breather, but like I said check your reference pics. I am going to either do my '70 GTX or RR in the sublime, it really suits that body style.
Brutalform Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 Yea Larry, I’m just going to switch them again from side to side. Won’t be factory perfect, but as long as that breather is on the rear of the valve cover. I’m not too concerned about the oil cap. I wish the valve covers came plain in all kits, so we can just add a breather, or PE caps as needed.
roadhawg Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 This is gorgeous, it's hard to beat a Lime-Light Road Runner! Can't wait to see it finished!
Brutalform Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 Finished the engine details. I planned on foiling but got involved with some things.
Brutalform Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 The front grill from the kit fits horrible. You can see daylight around the edges where it meets the fender. But I have an extra GTX grill. They look like two totally different grills. The GTX grill isn’t perfect, but a lot better than the RR grill. I will most likely use this grill instead.
Geno Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Looking great so far Tom, I've got the GTX coming up soon myself.
LouO Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Great paint and amazing detailing work, this should turn out awesome!
drodg Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Looks great and good luck with those grills
Codi Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Just WOW on the paint, interior and engine Tom. I really like the effort you put into detailing the carbs and fuel lines. They're scale or the nearest thing to scale that one could replicate. That takes time/effort for sure just to pull that off. When I first looked at the carbs I had to do a double take they were that realistic looking. Truly sets off a great looking engine. Good luck on the rest. cheers, tim
Brutalform Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 Thanks Tim. Finally finished, and Under Glass.
