It was supposedly in a magazine, or on the cover, but I don't know which one. It's the centerpiece in my collection. Pretty sure that was on the cover of Model Car Science back in the 60's , I'll dig around and post it if I find it . Edited November 5, 2019 by TooOld
OldNYJim Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 There’s some really cool builds in this thread - thanks for the inspiration fellas!!
SCRWDRVR Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 This is an old custom from my youth I just started rehabbing, originally built in the late 70’s and customized in the early 80’s
OldNYJim Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 I think I found the perfect candidate ?
Tom Geiger Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Beyond words! I've never seen chrome valve covers glued to a trunk lid! And that single tail light, classic!
stavanzer Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 What the +^%**^ are those huge Valve Covers from?
59 Impala Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 This is a car that was a rocket car back in the 80's that almost got thrown out. Instead I decided to try and restore it as a static model. It is a survivor for sure.
Foxer Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I wish this one survived ... it lasted in my Mom's attic until I graduated college and trashed thinking I'd never want it again. For some reason, I still have the trophy ...
gtx6970 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 This is the closest thing I have to a custom. But its pretty close to the oldest kit I have from a long ,,,, LONG time ago. This will stay EXACTLY the way it is till the day I quite breathing.
Scott Colmer Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 How are defining youth? before 20? If so, I'll give it a go. This is my oldest surviving custom. Not as cool nor as old as some of the ones already posted, but it is a custom built trike. This one survived - almost. When I was finishing it up the body got chewed by our puppy, so the chassis and engine went in another project. I have the parts to take another run at it someday. The dog lived a long life, but is in chew toy heaven now. Here is the chassis and engine - now with nitrous and injectors on a project completed about 4 years later.
