64Comet404 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I usually don’t work with diecast pieces, but I couldn’t pass this one up. My mentor teacher, Keith, is a big Harry Potter fan, and does a number of learning tie-ins with the books. This year, he started a Harry Potter club for all students (I would like to think they needed a replacement for my model-building club, which ceased when I moved to another school, but I know that’s not the case), so when I saw this piece at the LHS, I couldn’t resist getting a Christmas present. The detail isn’t too bad, though the hood and trunk detail are minimal. I gave the grille and wheels a flat black enamel wash, and painted the window trim and badging with various metallics to finish it off, but that’s it, though I may hit Harry with a coat of flat clear to kill the shine. I’m certain Keith and the kids will like this in their collection.
Dave Van Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 How well does it scale out????? JADA is bad about box scale.
Anglia105E Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 You have done a good job on your Ford Anglia 105E, Ken........ and the flat clear really helps with the realism of the model. My first thought ties in with what Dave Van is asking, do you think Jada have got the scale right? David
Snake45 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I think I might have seen this at Walmart and like many Jada cars, it's pretty big.
DukeE Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 It's big, may have been in what'd DC you get today. Like the Ken-Fu (props to Snake)
Geno Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 That's a neat model, the one thing I hate about most JADA models is the overkill size wheels and tires. I got the Freddie Kreuger '58 Caddy and had to change those out. Plus remove the misshapen convertible top. I think it looks much better now.

A friend in college had one just like it. Vendors call it 1/24th but it is more like 1/20. Compare to the Welly Ford Capri which is a 1/24th.
64Comet404 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 The wheelbase scales out to about 1:21, but it won't be displayed with any other like-scale pieces. I have the Airtrax resin kit, but I would really like an injection moulded 105E Anglia for my collection.
1959scudetto Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Unfortunately, the scale is indeed far off (about 1:20 to 1:21) and the proportions, too (either too wide or too short) - anyway, I bought myself one and intend to convert it into John Fitzpatrick's Broadspeed Anglia, winner of the 1966 British Touring Car Championship (dark red/marroon with silver roof) - picture found on the internet
Tom Geiger Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 (edited) I recently saw this at Walmart.. I was excited at first, then I noticed how large it is! I would’ve bought it in a minute if it scaled out. I did get a chuckle out of the Lucky Charms theme. Edited April 21, 2021 by Tom Geiger
Dave Van Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Jada needs to invest in a ruler.....they are missing sales with their box scale.
