oldcarfan Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I've been in a multitask (A.K.A. easily distracted) mood for a while now. Today I worked all morning on the Tamiya Nissan Sylvia, the Toyota Celica GT4, and an ESCI Gelandewagen, going from one to the other. After lunch I went back out to do more on them and decided to clean up the bench for a few minutes which turned into three hours. It doesn't look a lot better, but I did find a bunch of parts and pieces that had gotten buried. 1
meechum68 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Nice and I usually build 3-5 at a time. Just completed 3! Final steps on my Cannonball car. The 47 (will have to do exhaust later on) And the 57 Fairlane for the wife. Plus got the Skyline from prime to base coat. Cleaned up some empty boxes. I take pics of the box lid and then pitch them, don't have a way to store them, but later on I will do something with the pics.
Quiet Eric Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Been chipping away at the '70 Buick GS Stage 1 prototype. The "shag" carpet is a bit extreme scale wise but I didn't want to not do it. 1
meechum68 Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Did a little frame assembly on my street Datsun truck. Gotta a couple more things on it, and then one more coat of primer. Let it dry then some detail work. (Will post the detail work in my Datsun build post) Which wasn't too bad for hour and half of bench time today, oh and engine is 90% assembled. Have some detail work before adding 2 more parts to it. Got the wheel assemblies together, have to buy some smoke clear to dim the wheels down since the chrome is so.. bright!
Russell C Posted October 6 Posted October 6 For my caricature dragster, I accomplished making header extensions today. I remember reading somewhere that you can bash ball bearings into aluminum tube to make end flares - cut a short length, stand it up on end, balance a ball bearing on it and give it a few whacks. Never tried that before, I was a little too aggressive with the hammer on the first attempt, plus I figured out that if I polish the tube with it spinning at high speed in my mini lathe before I cut it the length I need, that works out better. I'll have to try this for velocity stacks in another project someday ... 3
meechum68 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Let's see... lots of things surprisingly enough... Did some work on my Skyline build-made motor mounts, painted header, valve covers and snorkle tubes. Did some work on my Street Datsun build, frame is all one color, and ready for additional colors, all other body parts are reprimed. Did some work my other little Datsun, that's gonna be a full box stock build, I was gonna change colors on it, but decided to go with colors similar to box. So will have some work there to do. Mocked up my 61 Catalina... gonna do the old school.. Race on Sunday and sell on Monday attitude with it. And picked out another kit ... Hudson Hornet and body and interior colors as well. 1
Russell C Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) Accomplished a quick fit-together today that proves a Monogram '41 Lincoln Continental chassis (from a separate glue bomb project where I only needed the Lincoln body) will do nicely for my Edselized Fairlane caricature dragster. Handy blank area for the rear axle / traction bars, good open front frame area (will be minus the fender liners) for the straight axle and tallblock doublestack supercharged engine. Just need to remove that hangy-down radiator support area on the Lincoln's chassis .... Edited October 8 by Russell C typo 2

meechum68 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 @Russell C I saw your other mock up with this, and I am digging the style! This looks like it could be an actual production kit with what you have been doing so far. Look forward to continued progress. 1
mchook Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Finished this Nova body today, A quick 2 day project, now for sale on ebay. 2
meechum68 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Did a little work on the Street Datsun, and another coat on the other Datsun.
johnyrotten Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Worked on fitting a Nascar chassis under a 66 fleetside. 1
JollySipper Posted October 8 Posted October 8 That's a great idea, John! The metal in the bed already looks like it's bead-rolled or something......... Good looking mockup! 1

Good looking mockup! Thanks man! The tubs and the sides of the bed are almost a perfect fit. Best part is the chassis is still at stock height in the front, i can lay the rocker on the ground with almost no work 2
stitchdup Posted Thursday at 02:03 PM Posted Thursday at 02:03 PM got the base for the gto paint job on this morning. i'm trying to build it with a 70s theme crossed between the usa and japan. this will be in the hakosuka style with some american influence. the main paint is probably going to be purple flake 3

meechum68 Posted Sunday at 01:25 AM Posted Sunday at 01:25 AM I got the bed painted for the one Datsun. Did some work on the other Datsun, which I am updating in a moment. And took a couple pics for Workbench Sat post.

FoMoCo66 Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM Posted Sunday at 11:39 PM Shot some body color on my 63 1/2 galaxie. On the emblems I tried the bmf under paint trick, it looks so good. Whoever came up with it, hats off to you! 6
