jjsipes Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 This is will be a slow project. I have it at my desk at work for slow periods. Not sure how well it will go but, I'll try. This is my take on the Kindig It Designs 1955 Nomad. I have the flowing kits to use AMT 1955 Nomad, AMT 39 Chevy Wagon Rod and thought about the Revell 2010 Camaro for engine but I think I might just wind up using the Wagon Rod engine for ease. Chassis/axle from the Wagon Rod would not drop in, to wide in the rear, front width is ok. Thought I would try my hand at fabbing a chassis.I started by looking for chassis diagrams and scaled then and printed them out to lay and cut my rectangular plastic to build the frame. I am using the snout of the Wagon Rod chassis to be able to use the suspension pieces and will be using the rear axle and bars for the rear. I have a set of Chrome Suey Wheels from Pegasus to use. I am able to use the rear tires out of the Wagon Rad kit without modification but the front I had to cut the extra ring out on the hole in the tire and stretch them over the wheels just a little bit. Cool Hand Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Great looking car to take some inspiration from, nice work on the chassis and good work modifying the front wheels and adapting the wagon rod tyres.
bisc63 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Sweet looking rod! Chassis is looking good. Sticking with white for the color of the Nomad?
Lowlife ! ! Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Now that's a cool Wagon ! I love Kindigs cars, although subtle, the 55 is a beautiful piece of inspiration ! Good choice using the wagon rod suspension, I'm looking forward to more on this !
89AKurt Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Because I don't read about the rodding world, didn't know about this builder, but can see why everyone likes them. Love the reduced bumper, that was a good idea. If it was me, would flip the turn signals so it's smiling. ? Pulling up a chair......

Yes, I'm going to use Tamiya Pearl White but thinking Tamiya Champagne Gold roof (not an exact match though). 56 minutes ago, 89AKurt said: Because I don't read about the rodding world, didn't know about this builder, but can see why everyone likes them. curt raitz Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I built a replica of this car a couple of years ago. I got the paint colors straight from Dave Kindigit, they are Cadillac White Diamond Pearl and Oldsmobile Cashmere Beige available from Scalefinishes. I dropped the model of at their shop in Salt Lake City in the summer of 2018. Have fun building, it's one nice looking car and I'm a Ford guy.
