espo Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I'm starting to think I should look through some of my kits. I have tried before selling some of my extras at a local Show / Swap Meet and can't get $20 to $25 for older unopened kits with no luck. At this selling price I could stop being worried about draining my 401k and move to the Bahamas.

He paid immediately, and I had no problems. Got lucky, I guess. Never had a problem with new/low-count eBayers...until last year. Somebody won a Lindberg Dodge L-700 kit from me. The solo tractor, no trailer. The guy didn't respond to 2 invoices from me or any communication from eBay. Never heard from him. He was a zero-feedback buyer. But IIRC it's the only time that has happened and I've been selling on eBay since 1999. So I guess I've been lucky. At a kit swap meet once, I found a Revell '55 Chevy convertible (for a lot less than $93!). It was the Pace Car kit, but missing the decals. That didn't matter. The box was stuffed with two convertible bodies (1 white, 1 salmon), an extra chassis, and a resin Bel Air hardtop body. Not sure why somebody made that body, since Revell also does the hardtop. But it was mastered from a Revell body, it has the cutouts for the chrome trim.

It was probably made between the time Revell released the cvt. and the hardtop kits.
Oldcarfan27 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 (edited) I added screenshots to this thread. The auction ended, and without pictures, it's like being on the outside of an inside joke. Edited February 17, 2020 by Oldcarfan27
Snake45 Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I just bought a Revell '55 Chev Pace Car off eBay for under $25 including shipping, "Buy It Now." Damaged box, but all I really want is the front end to graft onto the AMT Sedan kit. Sooner or later, someone will want/need those '55 Pace Car decals. And heck, I might even use the chassis under the AMT if it's significantly nicer than AMT's.

The kit decals are wrong (incomplete). As I found out to my aggravation, when I built that kit. I thought about stealing the missing trunk decals from a second kit, but that won't work. You need "May 30, 1955" in black letters. If Revell ever re-issues the Pace Car, they should add the trunk decal. At least one die-cast '55 Pace Car also missed that lettering. Here's a 2014 thread where the builder used the correct Fred Cady decals. Edited February 21, 2020 by Mike999 omit3
