ssroczyn Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I found this 67 Chevelle at a Garage Sale. It was painted metallic purple from a spray can and the engine was painted some kind of florescent orange. Luckily what was put together I was able to take apart and clean the paint off. Thank you Easy Off oven cleaner! My Likes about this build is I love the paint, and decals. I think everything went together in that respect. My Wishes about this build is that I wish I could have done the front grill better. I tried a few things but I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. Enjoy and all comments are most welcome!
ssroczyn Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 Thanks for looking! I really did enjoy putting this one together, considering what it looked like when I got it!
'70 Grande Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Really looks good! How did you achieve that finish on the Black paint; is that a straight from the can Black paint color or does it have a coating of some kind? ( I ask cuz I wanna replicate that color on an in-progress build of mine)!
ssroczyn Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 Hi Mark, that paint is Model Masters Black Metallic over Testor's Gloss Black. I got very comfortable over the years using Testors Paints. If you're going to buy some, better do it quick as I think most of or maybe all of the Model Master enamels are going away. I hope not though!

The Grills appearance might be improved with a little black wash to represent the openings in the grill work, but beyond that the way you saved this is great and I like the way you finished it as a box art. Very cleanly built.
Koellefornia Kid Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Nice box art build! I like the flame decals and the wheels, I think I will have to get one those kits...
mikemodeler Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 I'm with Espo, a light wash of black would give that grille the depth I think you were looking for. Nice restoration !
Dragonhawk1066 Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Looks sharp! I like the color combo.
TooOld Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Very well done ! Your paint and those decals look great !
