my66s55 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I'm in the final stages of finishing this project. It took 144 separate cad files and 73 files to print. There are 9 small cad files to create and 1 file to yet finish. To create this project, I first had to create it in a complete cad form. Each 3d printable parts in there own file. This is the current composite. I will provide pic's of printed parts as they become available. Don't hesitate to ask questions, comment or suggest.

Off the top of my head, the wheels are too small compared to the size of the tires, the body is too high, the windshield too low, and the cross section of that rear fender is too square. There needs to be more of a slope to the grille opening, and the top of that grille opening should be rounder, as should be the whole cross section of that hood and cowl. The beltline also has a slight curve to it, and there's also an extra character line. Actually, here are a couple of photos of a 1935 LaSalle convertible so you can see for yourself what needs to be tweaked.

my66s55 Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 When you work from pictures, you have to collect hundreds of examples. Such was the problem with the poster who created a Delehaye f&f 135. The biggest flaw with photos is the tunnel effect. The only part of the picture that is most accurate is the very closest. The rest suffer from the tunnel effect. That's why you need as many pics as you can find to try to get a more accurate example. You may be correct about the windshield though. Thanks Richard, I value your opinion very much.

I just picked two that were the most representative of what I was trying to say.

Rims are about 1.5" larger than the bead size. So a 15" tire will have rim that has a visible diameter of 16.5". That makes a visible difference. Edited March 19, 2020 by peteski

As an FYI, the yellow car posted above belongs (or used to belong) to Bob Lutz, former president of both Chrysler and later GM. I have seen the car in the flesh and is truly fantastic. I look forward to updates on this one.
Eric Macleod Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Whoops...my error. Bob's car is a 34. Oddly the top photo was taken at the Gilmore Car Museum with the Lincoln building in the background! Both shots were taken 20 miles from my house at the Gilmore.
