That’s looking great Jeff, hope the wife didn’t get mad at you for  requisitioning the hair dryer, if so, I’ll take the blame, haha.

This is really coming along nicely!

That bed looks AWESOME!!

Thanks !

Being back to work really slowed my bench time but stole a few minutes to hang fenders today . I used the round headlights from the kit

More work on the kw.   I needed to replace the kit glass w takeout container plastic , looks more to scale . While I was screwing with the cab, I fashioned a visor from aluminum sheet 20200501_160213.thumb.jpg.c1c52bd5d19ac96fdd8d01664d56a66c.jpg

time for dust ! Using a tamiya weathering pack and water i applied a thin wash around the edges of bumper and overall on the cab/  fenders. 20200502_191630.thumb.jpg.b9f94982180aa18a7a1bc77ea77f393a.jpg

Thanks Kerry !  I'm really having fun building a dirty truck. About had a panic attack whe I mixed alcohol w the powders , and it looked  ruined. Luckily I had sealed the top coat w dullcoat, and the alcohol didnt attack the color

Usually when something bad happens it could be a good thing as it adds character to whatever. Then again there are the bad things that happen and it don’t turn out at all...

That's a crazy build Jeff!  You have tremendous skills and this KW is simply fantastic.  I didn't build big rigs since I was 16 years old and you bring me back some great memories.  Those big tires remind me of the "6 pack" truck in the TV series Jade Fever.   I take my hat off to you sir!!!

Nice build.

How did you fashion that visor?

Thanks  ! The visor is k & s aluminum sheet. I just eyeballed width, then bent ends over around doors.  I used dremel to finalize shape

Great job !  It sure does look the part,  and what's with yellow sheetmetal and black chassis ?

Thanks Sam ! I had a photo of yellow truck w black and thought it looked cool.  I was planning orange sheetmetal,  but the color didnt look good

Oops missed ya Kerry ! Thanks for the comment . The panic color was more gray than in envisioned

No worries my friend!! Found this thought you’d get a kick out of it too...

You’re not the only one dealing with those pesky critters... Now they’re taking pictures!! Ahhh ?

Okay I'm stumped , trying to decide how to paint the winch cable  ? Its braided fishing line.  Black doesnt seem right , but not sure how to make it look right...any ideas ? Heres what it currently looks like

I could but its actually green fish line , maybe a coat of gunmetal would give the look

Other question I have , what does the gin poles attach to when stowed , they dont seem to hook to roller , guess theres a pivot in the trough they rotate on ?
