Curt Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 This is very much like a car my Mom had, but hers was a '66. I used the Revell GTX, cut the top off and painted it with Scalefinishes Dodge R Yellow. The back seat was narrowed down and the armrest panels from the AMT '69 GTX convertible were added. I always liked the look of the top well for the Revell '69 Camaro ragtop, so I copied it using craft putty to make a mold and nail acrylic to form the part. The top boot was donated by a Monogram '59 Impala and the uptop is a modified piece from a Polar Lights '65 Coronet. The rest is box stock with the exception of the plug wires and BMF and Molotow finished it off. This one took a while with the modifications but I like the way it turned out. I'll get some better pictures outdoors when I get a chance. Thanks for looking!
Flynlo Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Really nice! Super clean build that any MOPAR fan would love to have sitting in their driveway.
espo Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Beautiful looking Convertible. Did Mom have a Hemi also ? Great paint color and finish. I like how you detailed the engine bay. The Convertible top looks perfect,

It had a 361 with a Torqueflite and would scoot along pretty fast, as my brother and I tested a few times. I had that engine ready to put in the model but ran into some fit issues at final assembly. By then I had put enough time into the project, so I took the easy way out and went with the kit engine. kind of ironic that a hemi was used because another engine didn’t fit!

traditional Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Curt, Your Satellite looks fabulous. ...beautiful car and very nice pics as well. Your modifications to achieve the vehicle you wanted all worked out superbly. I hope you're doing fine these days. Cliff
Smitty Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Great looking Mopar Curt! That's a beautiful and realistic color choice. Your Mom had good taste! The convertible top well was a cool addition, and those redlines really set it off. Our paths have not crossed for quite a while. Hopefully I'll will see you and Gene at an upcoming show when things are back to 'normal.' Eric
Curt Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 Again, thanks all for all your thoughtful comments. Cliff and Eric, I really look forward to the next time we can meet for a show.
Geno Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 WOW, you knocked it outta the park Curt. Beautifully done.
High octane Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Lookin' good Kurt as I too am currently working on a '67 GTX model, and of course I just love dem B-body Mopars!
Bills72sj Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Very nice result. My Dad had a white, red interior 66 Satellite convertible. One of the reasons he bought it was because it had a trailer hitch (for our speed boat)
moparfarmer Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Very nice clean build..I like the smaller height A pillars/w/shield on the one you did over the real ones with the taller glass..Very nicely done and super clean..
