Now that the Reo has gone to the caster, modifications have begun on a Sterling by changing the length of the hood from the West Coast version to one that is shorter and with louvers rather than with the chrome trim.  The radiator was also modified.  Looking to turn this one into a nice compact heavy duty dump.

Fantastic Charlie! It is always enjoyable to watch your builds. What with everything going on right now, I come home at night and collapse, BUT, I always spend time here on the forums, watching builds by incredibly talented friends....................and you always lead the way sir!

Nice. Where are the louvers from?

Louvers and the backup piece are all 0.010" stock.  Louvers were 0.010"x0.156" Evergreen.  The small knobs are 0.035" round stock.

A member of the Prescott Antique Auto Club, founding member 50 years ago, owns one of these.  He still drives it.  I'm intrigued by the massive chain drive.

That's one reason I like it also, Kurt.  I remember these going by the house when I was a boy of 8 or 9.  Letting off the gas let the chains slack off as well and it was a neat sound.

Got the revised cab back from AITM so work is started on this build.  Reo is set aside for the moment until I can come up with a reasonable frame.  The Sterling will have some new tires based on an old casting that I had.  Just a road tire but is 41" diameter and takes a regular AMT rim set.  The tire is a bit narrower than the modern tires and casts up nicely.  The frame is mocked up for now but is set for a 153" wheel base.
