I started this kit this week.  Seems to be well molded.  The plastic feels a little different.

Anyways, Duplicolor Chili Pepper Red Pearl with 2K Clear Glamour.  This 2K stuff might be worth the money.

That color really pops. Do you have any chassis pictures ?

Thank you.  I haven't done anything exciting to the chassis yet.  :)

The one thing that has stopped me starting my example is wondering how to detail the intricate grille.  The detail seems to be a bit soft for a black ink wash and my hand is nowhere near steady enough to re-scribe it.  I will be interested to see how you approach it.

Love the paint by the way.  Perfect for this style of car.

Cheers

Thank you for the photo of the chassis. I was wondering if I could use the chassis under a different body. This looks like a modern chassis like I want to use on something else in the future.

This chassis and others like it from different kits are pretty frequently swapped into other models. With alterations, this could be made to fit nearly anything from the time period. I also recommend the chassis from the AMT '39 Wagonrod, the AMT Phantom Vicky, and the Revell/Monogram '37 Fords. I'm sure the recent Foose Caddy and Ford Pickup will equally adaptable.

Great knowledge shared.  Thank you.

Thank you for the additional suggestions. I'm looking at another '48 Ford coupe in the near future and that is why I had asked. I have a couple of those suggestions in the stock pile of kits I will never get too.

Happy to help. I've been toying with the idea recently myself. The problem is these kits, are generally very good, so parting them out feels a little wrong to me. Particularly the Foose kits.
