Monty Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I've seen a few of you mention using MM Turn Signal Red (#2756) on tail lights & such and I was curious whether it was an opaque paint or translucent, which to me would make more sense for use over chromed items. This paint is not to be confused with MM Stop Light Red (#2724), which I've used and like. I don't have a hobby shop anywhere nearby, so pics of Turn Signal Red used on any of your builds would be appreciated.
espo Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Not having a hobby shop in your area can really put a damper on your builds. I haven't used the #2756 MM red before, but if you're having to order your supplies on the net anyway a good alternative if the MM isn't available consider the Tamiya X-27 Clear Red. I know it works so if the MM can't be found you do have a fall back to consider.
crazyjim Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I use a red marker followed by a coat of Tamiya clear ed.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I actually use Testors #1529 "Red Metal Flake". Doesn't seem to be a whole lot different from the Stop Light Red that I've used in the past. Steve
Bucky Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I have some of the MM Stop Light Red, but lately I've been using a lot of the Tamiya Clear Red. I wouldn't hesitate to use Model Masters red, though.
Rodent Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I was at my LHS yesterday and their supply of MM paint is getting depleted. They did not have any #2756 nor did they have a spot for it in the rack. According to the Testors website, the #2724 Stoplight red is described as "metallic" and the #2756 is not. I don't build a lot of cars with clear or chrome taillights, so I don't have a lot of experience with this. I to typically use Tamiya and/or a sharpie. The spousal unit has a set of Sharpies that include all of the normal lens colors, plus I have my own red one. My bottle of Stoplight red dates from the beginning of the Modelmaster line, I think.

Steve Well, I've painted at least one whole car with it, and plan to do at least one more, and plan to add black and brown into it to make a couple different shades of maroon. Monty, I wish I had an answer to your specific question, but I've never seen the stuff. I do notice Testor is renaming some things strangely lately. For example, I just bought a bottle of Model Master "Flat Chrome Silver," although it carries the same FS number as the regular Chrome Silver. Weird. I wonder if the Turn Signal Red is just something else relabled. On a related topic, I've become quite fond of the MM Acrylic "Clear Red Acryl." I hope that's available for a while.

Back in the day, I used to use Stop Light Red to touch up the maroon paint on my 1980 Malibu. Airbrushed over black, it was a very close match for that colour (really helpful when I built my Monogram '86 MCSS).
randyc Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Red Sharpie. Unless you just have to have the Testors. I have no experience with the color number you posted though, sorry. THe Sharpie works well, may take several coats. but is available most anywhere.
