Snake45 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Looking good so far! Drive on! BTW, you DO know you don't have to paint it black, don't you? There were a few Hs in red, green, blue, and white as well.
BlackSheep214 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 I’m aware there are other colors but I had planned going with black.
Deuces ll Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I have plans on building a convertible version of the '66 Shelby Mustang.... Maybe even an "R" model convertible.... ??
vamach1 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Just now, Deuces ll said: I have plans on building a convertible version of the '66 Shelby Mustang.... Maybe even an "R" model convertible.... ?? There were four 66 GT350 convertibles made for testing purposes (yellow, blue, red and green). Needless to say they are extremely valuable today (excess of $1M) and were even equipped with A/C. It’s on my list to build one using this kit and the regular convertible kit.
Deuces ll Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) ??.... That's why I have a bunch of 1/24 scale RM Mustang kits.... ? Edited July 15, 2020 by Deuces ll
BlackSheep214 Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 Keep in mind, this is no ordinary Shelby GT350. This is the GT350 H (’H designated for Hertz). A majority were painted Raven black.
BlackSheep214 Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Dash board is finished. The main dash gauge cluster was molded in chrome. Good Lord,,, that is wrong. So it went in a bleach bath, rinsed and repainted, Now it looks like a proper instrument gauge cluster. Painted flat black, hand painted trim using Molotow Chrome, and highlighted details of eash gauge dial with artist pencil. Bottom pic shows with steering wheel and tach gauge.
BlackSheep214 Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Interior is done with the exception or lack of minor detail AMY overlooked - the rear panel lamps behind the seats. Will figure out how to make it happen but I've got a pretty goos idea how.
vamach1 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 If you have good eyes you may try painting the Tr-bar red white and blue lines on the steering wheel hub and glove box. A sharp tooth pick and steady hand help too.

Painted Black Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 While we are picking on you you should try putting the chrome trim on the glove box door....would break up all the black on that side. Its looking real sharp thou.
BlackSheep214 Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 I've decided to enhance the valve covers a bit. Used Testors Black Detail Wash.

mustang1989 Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Looking really good Tom!! Nice touch on the rocker covers.
Deuces ll Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Might want try and paint the Holley carb a brass or zinc color.... ?
BlackSheep214 Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 After looking at the dash glovebox and the carburator,, I'm going to go ahead and paint the trim around the glove box (I'll admit, that was an oversight on my part.) and pop the carb off , strip the chrome and paint it..
