I missed this thread the first time around so here are three of my models based on the AMT kit which was maybe the last kit I started but did not finish as a teenager in the mid-1960's

FIA Targa Florio Dan Gurney/Gerry Grant

Alan Grant Coventry Motors Cobra Team

Cobra #1 Road & Track cover car, long trunk, inboard real brakes, different dash, left side fuel filler, pearlescent yellow

And now for something completely different - a Topolino Cobra

Nice Cobra model. Quite a nice looking earlier car without the flared out wheel arches.

I wonder if anyone does a transkit to convert it back to the AC Ace that it was derived from?

Noel, the conversion back to the ACE is pretty easy.  Just remove the wheel arches, add the moustache under the grille, and shift the instrument panel to the right.  JC and I have both done it.

Noel, here is my WIP thread on the conversion  You could have a go at it with this method.  Do not how Gary did his conversion but his turned out great.

Thanks Gary and JC for your combined feedback.

I have an old Frog kit that I think is the same AMT one made under licence in the UK from way back when. The Heller 328 as a source for the engine is one that I would never have thought of.

My build of an original AMT 1/25 Cobra... which ended being very different than the kit representing the 260/289 slab sided bodied cars.

I started with the AMT kit to build a replica of the first iteration of CSX2196 as races (foe a while...) at Sebring 1964. Drivers Ken Miles and John Morton.

This car had the combination of gen 1 leaf spring chassis with a 427 dropped in, lots of body mods including big fender flares, swiss cheese nose etc.
