Rakentaja Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Now it's done. It was pretty easy to build, the painting went pretty well with a brush, although some traces can be seen. This was the first non-European car I have built.
espo Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Great looking build. The first one of these I built happened to be in the same color. I like how you used the different shades of black for the chassis and engine colors all look correct also.
Dave Van Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Very nice work....clean my fav! My wife's Dad bought one like this after WWII.......and she wants to paint our 46 Ford that color.........but not a hot rod color to me!
doorsovdoon Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Very nice. I'll have to get me one of these.
Modlbldr Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 That is an amazing job. And brush painted? I never would have known. Fantastic work! Later-
ewetwo Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Wow. Really nice. And I agree with Tom about the paint job.
Slimguy Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Very well done on that brush painting. Brush painting a car body like you did is very difficult to say the least. I have been working on my brush techniques and I have to say that I am not even close to your skill level. Can you share any secrets to your success?

I try my best and always hope to achieve a good result.

Can you share any secrets to your success? I have no secrets. At least three coats of paint with the widest flat brush I found (10mm). The paint, of course, should be thinned to about 8: 2 (8 paints and 2 thinners). Then just paint and hope for the best result. A clear varnish will, of course, come on top of that paint. Watertown Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Did you add the welting between the fenders and body? Nice attention to detail.

It is a rubber band used to seal the gap between the body and the fender. I don't know the exact name in english. It can be black or body colored like in my car. In the images below, the band is visible in real cars.

Here in the States, it's referred to as fender welting. It appears that you added it to your model, which I thought showed great attention to detail. I love everything about your finished model.
