Kit Karson Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) Congrat's, @Dennis Lacy We still have more to do on this thread! Ford logo's abound! Even on the running boards!! -KK Edited August 10, 2021 by Kit Karson Added picture
Kit Karson Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 More detail work going on... Scrap thin plastic the edge of a For Sale sign... Soon it will be a forward skirt... Trim to fit... Excess removed... Under the forward edge of the skirt... Inside & out... Open up the area for the tongue... Add a little support... Work continues on the tongue... Box in the goose neck... Add a little putty... Here & there... -KK 1
Dennis Lacy Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 I had thought about suggesting to fill in the front opening like this but you did it anyway. Nice work! 1

alan barton Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 That sits real nice, Kit. Meanwhile, I tried to get some parts done tonight - small progress but progress none the less! I cut a flat piece of styrene to fill the hole in the floor of the cab. Trimmed up a second piece to form a toe board. Also cut another piece of styrene to make a new dash. It will have a continuous roll along the bottom edge and a p/e dash that I have had for decades. Also getting more bodywork done on the fender unit. its good fun to use up glue bombs but they dont call 'em glue bombs for nothing! Oh yeah, broke first one, then the other windshield pillar, while simply holding the cab to fit the dash. Did no-one tell Revell about elasticisers? Cheers Alan 1
Dennis Lacy Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 @alan barton Good to see some progress from you!
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Nice work on these projects. Alan my guess is the windshield frame broke where the notchs are for the hinges. Also some of the plastics Revell has used can be brittle in some of the kit releases.

Had to bring the bottom edge of the kowl down to match the doors... on both sides... '29 PU Kowl Extensions... Both sides... What does your bench work area look like? Thin cardboard function as turntables while working during mockup sessions - able to check out both sides without taking everything apart and re-assembling... -KK 1
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Such a great thread. Cool builds and excellent models tips. Never thought of that tape technique.
bill-e-boy Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Moving along nicely Kit I have been slowly beavering away The chassis components and engine are painted so have started paint detailing and engine wiring I now have a unicorn in the house A bit of stretched sprue filling the gas filler hole And have started cutting up the fire wall for recessing I feel the air cleaner in the Lil John kit is a bit small so I machined up some plastic like I did for the oil pan. Did that then had a Eureka moment and grabbed some ally flat and machined that up. Nothing beats the real deal Now I need to shape up the air cleaner and make up an air filter element More to come NNZ has just gone into total lock down - we now have community Covid cases in Auckland - we haven't been in a total NZ wide lock down for over 12 months Hope it does not last too long 1
Kit Karson Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Spent a little time rereading this thread... for several reasons. Primary reason is refreshing my memory to start the next to last phase: White Glue Mockup. Second, to check out a couple of modifications @Dennis Lacyand @Rocking Rodney Ratdid during their tribute builds. Third, wanted to check on @bill-e-boyand @alan bartonand thank each of them for their continued updates on their tribute builds. And, I may go back again to find the names of those that had an interest to join this tribute build. But, until I do, if you are following along and would truly consider enlisting, do it now! Worked on the tailgates yesterday... Matched the half round filler... A drop of CA... Ready for finish filing and sanding... Trimmed off the bed hinges... Filed off the excess... Looks better! Nice looking pair of '29 PU Tailgates... Until next time... I'll leave you with this: 1

alan barton Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 That pickup up bed is looking good, Kit. I suspect I will be giving mine a very similar treatment. Got the dash pretty much finished last night as well as the floor boards in the cab. Need to figure out a console of some sort, door panels (probably Buttera Model T same as Dennis) decide on fuel tank placement, headers and exhaust for the Ford V6 and then it will be primer time. Love the mug- scary how true that is! Cheers Alan 1
alan barton Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 A few steps closer tonight. The basic construction of the dash and column drop is complete. It is made from three pieces of flat styrene plus a piece of Evergreen 222 rod with a flat filed on one side. The P/E instrument panel is an early Detail Master unit. I might have mentioned months ago that I had an assortment of Buttera Jag rear end parts. I decided to use the worst bits and a bit of fabrication to make a Jag rear that was a bit more similar to a "standard" Jag set up in a rod of the era. I find clean final assembly to be quite the challenge so I have glued most of the rear end into the frame. The hub carriers, however, can still be gently slid off the axles which will allow me to fit the disc brakes after everything is painted. Cheers Alan 1
Kit Karson Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 @alan barton the last picture made my eyes think twice... then it hit me "Right Hand Drive", mate (from down under) reminds me of Harry Schurig's '29 Lincoln V12!

I know this car well, Kit! It was built by a mate of mine, Rod Hadfield of Castlemaine Victoria. Believe it or not, he and his wife Carol drove that all the way across Australia to come to the Sandgroper Nationals in Western Australia in 2004. Rod has built a wild array of cars over the years and took this one and his Merlin powered 55 Chevy ( "Final Objective") to the USA for a huge tour maybe ten years ago? His cars are always full of unusual tricks - he recently completed a street legal America La France powered steel bodied Fiat Topolino and it is a fully streetable, fully detailed show car! Kit Karson Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 @alan bartonAwesome work being done! Impressive, Brother!! I was playing with the Wagon-Kart... fits nicely! and, pulled out the Mini-Bike... It started with a drawing: and, was cobbled and spliced together with pieces... Should fit in the back with the tool box... Gotta repair the Wagon-Kart and finish the Mini-Bike...
alan barton Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Thanks Kit! Got a bit done this weekend. After a bit of tidying up I got primer on the chassis. I used some Meng nut and bolt heads to detail some of the joints. Onto the final stages of body work now but still have to organise hood, radiator shell, headlights and hanging the doors. Cheers Alan 1
Kit Karson Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Fixed the Wagon-Kart Steering Wheel Stoll a hand brake from the '29 PU kit to add back the missing spoke... Fixed the throttle lever, too... Found the Wagon Kooler, helmet and R/C toys... Wagon Kooler Ball Hitch That's it for now... -KK
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Wow. Loving the eV bike and the wagon.
Kit Karson Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 The Mini-Bike will go in the back of the '29 PU...
