I really like the finished result! Every bit of it looks absolutely period perfect. I love that you dared to be different with extended cab and hopped up V6. With the extra cab you had the advantage of room to use those Buttera seats as-is where I had to modify them to straighten up the seat backs so they would fit. I also like how you finished the back end with the tailgate, graphics and billet taillights.

Hey, Dennis, no worries mate!  I have done the exact same thing several times before, and you think, how did I miss this?

And now that you mention it, I didn't do an Under Glass!  The truck is finished but then I decided to do the trailer and the kiddie car.  I ran out of paint just as I was finishing the trailer and I thought I could get away with it - but nahhh, it looks kinda milky and patchy.  Since then we have had a very cold wet winter and I have avoided doing any spray painting at all. But spring arrived this week so I went down to my LHS and picked up another can of Tamiya Bright Red ($14.95 a can - COVID has a lot to answer for!) and will get those parts finished and put it up in Under Glass soon.

Thanks for your kind comments. It was a blast being part of this exercise, even if I did try to resist for a while! I couldn't be happier with the final result - I think I got exactly the Boyd look I was after ( both Tim and Coddington!!! LOL)

Weekend before this last one it was disgustingly hot outside which led to spending most of it inside bored looking for something to do. One thing I ended up doing was going back through this entire thread as it’s unbelievable to me that it’s received over 40k views! I never would have guessed when I started it and then invited others to join in that it would hit the numbers of views and postings that it has!

Yesterday I was out at my bench and going through project boxes to access and remember everything I had going. If you guys remember I had actually started a sister roadster pickup version to go with my closed but then I focused on and finished the closed cab while the roadster took a back burner. Looking through it yesterday and I didn’t remember it being as far along as it is. Perhaps it’s time to join back in and work it to completion? I think a couple Sunday afternoons would have it ready to go to paint. Here’s a quick & dirty mock up from yesterday to jog everyone’s memory’s.

Our friend @Kit Karson has suggested that I create a group thread in the Under Glass for pickups where we can all share our finished Tim Boyd tribute trucks. Sounds like a good idea to me so look for that soon. I realized that the finished pictures I took of my truck weren’t the greatest so I figured out a good background and lighting so that I could shoot new and improved pics that show the finished quality of my truck much better.

UPDATE!

Did a little work on the sister Roadster Pickup yesterday. Started addressing getting the body properly smoothed out. 
 

I left the doors functional on my closed cab but since this is a roadster and the interior can be easily viewed I felt it unnecessary. The notches for the hinges got filled and the doors were glued in with liberal amounts of Zap A Gap. Once set I smoothed everything out and then scribed the door gap lines back in. I also permanently installed the lower half of the firewall and filled the slot where the original steering shaft passed through. 
 

On the bottom side those two rectangle holes were filled and the rear floor generally smoothed out. 
 

The radiator shell had its Ford emblem and lower crank access cover smoother and the radiator cap slot at the top filled and smoothed. 
 

Lastly I started working on fitting a dashboard. This one is from the Monogram ZZ Top coupe and features a period correct billet gauge panel. This could change but so far I think I like it. 
 

 

Thats all for now. It felt good to make some progress!

Spent a little time building a paint booth in the attic!

And, I bought a new old PU!

Be back at the bench in no time, Brothers!

That looks like a fairly easy p'cup to get the right parts for, but getting a round tuition may be the bad part of the build. The Lindbergh/AMT '34 Ford truck for the cab, grille shell, and bed, the '32 five window coupe from Revell for the chassis running gear, (gotta stay Ford here, just a personal thing for us old timers) fenders (without a spare indention in one of them) hood and headlites, the Revell Dan Fink '32 for the door panels and using its rear seat for a bench in the truck cab, (if it doesn't look right I'll use the buckets) and an overhead console from any of the Revell '26 T kits, tires and wheels from the Revell '32 five window again. With all those parts and pieces (except for the overhead panel that will be built with some .010 sheet.plastic and one of the stereo faces from Detail Master and a few gauges that I think will look better up there than cluttering up a nice smooth dash) maybe I can get the ambition to start on it before the snow flies??.

Finally getting close on @Kit Karson's 29 truck that has been in the work's for almost a year now. When I left off, I had just finished correcting the engine placement in the frame so the engine would clear the firewall. But the frame needed some touchup paint done so it was masked off and I sprayed it. Also, After fiddling with some of the alcladed parts a little to much, they ended up having to be redone. Everything was mocked up to make sure things will now fit. This stuff never ends! 

 

The engine is pretty much completed. Did some plug wires and a fuel pump and line. Not much more. Put the engine in the frame. Now the exhaust can be done.

 

 

Still have some touch up to do here and there. But it's coming along. Have yet to do a full mock up. Thats up to @Kit Karson. After all, It is his truck. I'm just making sure it will all go together for him.

Thank you so much for every little detail that you covered making this beautiful work of art that you've collaborated on with me.  I know and only a very few know that this is not our first joint venture!  It was even mentioned to @tim boyd shortly after you took the truck back to the master's bench and paint shop.  One-to-one builders have their vehicles painted by someone they totally trust.  And, Brother you have done a masterful job on our Tribute PU! -KK

Just a small update on @Kit Karson's truck. Got the headers in place. Was going to get after the exhaust but realized there was a couple things that needed to be done before that could be done. First it needed to have a brake booster and master cylinder. I'm going to use the booster that was sent with the truck. A mount was made to mount it to the frame. It was painted the same color as the frame and the booster was sprayed with alclad chrome. Next up was the fuel tank. After figuring out where it was to be going, One was built out of some sheet styrn and fit with a drain made out of a steering column shift handle. It was also sprayed with alclad. Another thing that needed to be done was the headlamps. Decided to paint them body color. The chrome was stripped and shot some paint on that part. After the tank and booster assembly are installed I can start on the exhaust. Thats it for now. Getting close but I'm sure that I'll find more.

Today was a good day. I was able to finish up a few things on the chassis and drive train on @Kit Karson's truck. Got the brake booster installed, Did some touchup painting(3 things), Test fit the painted headlamps and mocked it up with the gas tank. Another thing I worked on was the bottom side of the cab. I recently was looking at @Dennis Lacy's roadster pickup build and thought what a great idea he had filling in the two square holes on the bottom of the bucket. I was thinking to myself, I should have done that! But then it turned into "What can I do" to fix those two square holes in the bottom of the cab of this truck. So what I did was pretty simple. Using a piece of foil from a cigarette pack, I cut a piece to fit between the cab and the chassis. I brush on some clear tamiya paint to glue it down with. The foil has a perforation to it that resembles heat sheilding. Worked perfect. Thank you @Dennis Lacy for the inspiration to work on that area. Everything is done and it's ready to get the exhaust(which I have no idea what to do yet) going. Here is a few photo's..................
