JollySipper Posted October 24, 2020 Author Posted October 24, 2020 Trying my hand at some scratch building for the first time! Working on making some door panels for the very under-detailed interior..... Still need to make some arm rests and figure out the window cranks. How do they look to you guys? I cut away the arm rest so the new card can sit flat against the existing door panel....... Let me know what you think, and all comments are welcome!
BlackSheep214 Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 I like the skirts myself. Gives it a nice mean look on the white wall tires. But hey, either way it'll look cool.

I'm interested in what you used.
JollySipper Posted October 25, 2020 Author Posted October 25, 2020 Thanks, Thomas! I get these packs of steaks that have a very thin piece of plastic that keeps the package flat..... It's thin enough to cut with scissors, but for a clean cut you need a straight edge and Xacto....
stitchdup Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Nice work mate, really liking the door panels
espo Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 I agree on this interior treatment. Great idea for material use on the panels. What do you have in mind for the seats ? Maybe some more of these panels to make seat inserts as a seating surface.
Misha Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Your construction of the interior side panels looks great! Glad you are doing it as it adds so much to the kit’s sparse tub. Also agree with ditching the skirts, shame to hide those mags. It’s really coming alng nicely, cheers Misha
JollySipper Posted October 26, 2020 Author Posted October 26, 2020 I'm very glad you guys like the door panels! I'm thinking like espo that the seats need something to tie in with the rest, so I've made these pieces... Everything will look better once I've painted the white.....
doorsovdoon Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Awesome scratch building, man! Love this stuff.

TooOld Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Looking really good so far ! I like your choice of wheels and that color is going to look great !
JollySipper Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 Thanks a bunch, guys! Glad you're enjoying my progress.... 9 hours ago, slusher said: What did you make them out of? Hey, Carl friend! It's just plastic sheet from a food package.... I cut the shape I wanted, then scored lines into it with a scribing tool......
espo Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I need to talk to my wife about her shopping and checking food packaging. The seat pattern fits real nice and with the side panels done in the same material it starts to look like a great interior. For those not familiar with the OEM interiors of the day and the lower cost cars in particular they were pretty somber inside to say the least.

JollySipper Posted October 31, 2020 Author Posted October 31, 2020 Getting on with some more progress! Puttied in the custom front end.... Bodywork gives me a hard time, I usually have to do a lot of prime-sand-prime to get everything smooth........ I just used one-part bondo smeared on with my finger... and all smoothed out.... Thanks!
stitchdup Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Thats a nice front end, I used the same front end when I did mine but wish now i had left off the chevy eyebrows from above the lights
JollySipper Posted October 31, 2020 Author Posted October 31, 2020 Thanks, Les man.... I'm thinking about frenching the headlights by just putting them in from the back..... I've got some chrome rings I could use for bezels if I do....
JollySipper Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 Making some more progress! Finished the panels for the interior and got the dash painted up..... The door cards aren't perfect, but will look better in the completed interior. Thanks for looking in......
slusher Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I like those door panels, that’s such a nice touch...
JollySipper Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 Thanks, Carl man..... I think things look better as a whole than it's parts do...... Here's the interior all done! Thanks for looking in, guys..... Tell me what you think!
slusher Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Your interior does not even resemble a 50 Ford kit. Great work on your custom interior...
Misha Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Great work on the interior mods TJ, it sure makes a difference in comparison to the original kit version. I’ve been tackling a few of the early kits with sparse interiors and along with the right tools, razor and PE saws it becomes rather easy. Congrats on your build, cheers Misha
espo Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Great looking interior. Looking forward to seeing your body work on this.
