Well that’s cool!... I didn’t even get to see whatever kit you guys are talking about?  Maybe you can post a couple pics here after you receive it an fill our hearts with envy. Well, at least mine anyway.

Thanks for the link Steve... I checked out all the pics. The more pics I see of finished Gunze Daytona kits, the more I think they are one of the best 1/24 kits I’ve seen period. Steve, yours looks so spot on! The color is perfect; reminds me of the color they called Princess Blue which they later changed the name to Viking Blue. Anyway, superb work on that one...I love it! ...Liked the other cars too btw.

Nope, I didn’t get the kit... Cobraman did

Uh oh.  If you want to go big you can always get the HRM kit by contacting Brad directly.  Here’s the parts list.  It’s less than half of a MFH kit and made in the USA (Laurel Maryland).

You’re right - you gotta know the right people.  ?   Historic Racing Miniatures (HRM) is Harold (Brad) Bradford - a one man operation (with his wife) who makes some of the best resin full kits and resin parts for Ferrari’s, Cobra’s, Porsches, etc.  Since he has no website or catalog for years it was either you met him at a show or found out through a friend etc.  He does not sell on Ebay either and does not take PayPal.  However,  modelbuilderswh.com does have some of his products but the demand is such that it’s hard to keep them in stock.  Model Factory Hiro is based in Japan and they have a Daytona Coupe kit which is at least $300 (on Ebay) and I do not know whether it is worth the extra $$ over the HRM kit.  There is also ScaleMotorsports which I do not know much about other than it’s a resin kit and may be out of production.  I’m sure Gramps46 knows a little more about each kit but the HRM kit has never disappointed anyone that I know that has built or seen one.

Thanks again, Josh. It is Viking Metallic Blue (from MCW Finishes) - the correct color for the early Cobras and Cobra Daytonas before they changed to the darker Guardsman Blue - and incidentally the color my Ranchero was painted when it came from the factory.

Ok, here goes.  I never had "studio" photos of my Daytona models so I figured now was a good time with this excellent thread.  Please remember that these models were built early after the release of these kits and the availability of reference photos was not what it is today.  My Gunze models were lengthened to a true 1/24 scale.

Good morning Mr. McNutt.  I wonder what took so long.  ?  As always we all appreciate your knowledge as you were decades ahead of some of us looking to build one of the best looking race cars (along with GT40’s) of all time but of course I am a little biased.  Have you built any of the ScaleMotorsports or HRM or MFH coupes?  Asking for a friend.  ?

Very nice work on all of those, Gary!
